WAS YOUR DAD A GOONER

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

My old man is Arsenal through and through! 8)

I fact the whole family is apart from my brother!

He supported Wimbledon as my Uncle was in the team that got them into the Football League around the same time that my Brother knew what football was all about.

I use to like the dons (not MK  ) but only in a preiod when they were at Selhurst Park from about 1996-1999 then nobody eneded up going to see them
The person next to me at the stadium funny enough asked at the cup game if Plough Lane is still up or knocked down?
I would think it would be knocked down but i heard it's still up due to the dog racing over there but just a help to answer his question

my dad was a brentford supporter....
my cousin hooked, or forced me to support arsenal (he's from the boreham wood area u see)when i was 5, which i am most grateful for. Once Arsenal started to win trophies in the wnger era, my dad decided to support manure - i thought at first it was to piss me off, but then realised years later it was so we had so common ground and converastion topics. As he knew many manure directors and worked near the ground in his earlier days, i suppose he had a legitimate reason - that and brentford being shit. I rememer going to watch them on my mates birthday, and he was the mascot, and they got thumped by bury 3-0 at home!!

My old man's a Gooner, and his Dad before him. I'm not sure how far it goes back, but I know his nan lived by Highbury, so maybe that had something to do with it.

My brother (mate of Gus's ex-Wimbledon supporting brother) is also a Gooner. However, one day when he came home from school (I think he was about 5 at the time) he said "Dad, all the kids at school are Spurs fans and they're making fun of me. I think I'm going to be a Spurs fan," to which my Dad replied, "fair enough son. You can support whoever you like...not in my house, though." My Dad then proceeded to lock his five year old son outside until he agreed to be an Arsenal fan again. This is a completely true story. You could argue that it's child cruelty, but my Dad saved him from being a Spud - something I know he is grateful for today!

My dad was a sports journalist, and always tried not to be in favour of any team, but he is now retired, and last year I took him to Ashburton for his 75th birthday, he is now a member of Arsenal Denmark and a passionate gooner.
