As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
My brother (mate of Gus's ex-Wimbledon supporting brother) is also a Gooner. However, one day when he came home from school (I think he was about 5 at the time) he said "Dad, all the kids at school are Spurs fans and they're making fun of me. I think I'm going to be a Spurs fan," to which my Dad replied, "fair enough son. You can support whoever you like...not in my house, though." My Dad then proceeded to lock his five year old son outside until he agreed to be an Arsenal fan again. This is a completely true story. You could argue that it's child cruelty, but my Dad saved him from being a Spud - something I know he is grateful for today!
Thats one good story
I got into trouble for the first time swearing at the age of 5
I shouted out Spurs are shit
In which the class laughed out loud about it & thankfulley the whole class were Gooners in Christ the King RC primary at the time expect for a ol mate who was Liverpool & got the crap kicked out of him when they beat us in the final
Well being young i didn't understand it proberley & got sent to the headmasters office in which a couple of years after that he spook to me in the lunch line laughing about that
Now going to college he's dead but that was class of a memory for me
It was my Dad that got me to say it every morning in the car saying who are shit?, tottenham, what are tottenham?, shit
Ah sweet memorys [/quote]

Yeah, I'm from Enfield which I guess technically qualifies as a Spurs area. It is indeed a shit hole (well, the part I'm from, anyway!).

My dad was a gooner. As a kid his dad took him to see Sp*rs one week Arsenal the next whoever was at home when his older brother started to onlyn go to the Arsenal matches (thinking his older brother was cool) he started only going to the Arsenal games and thank god he became a massive gooner and thanks to him my brother and me have carried on the tradition.
It send a chill through me to think how close we came to ** i cant even say it**
My Dad was a Arsenal fan, but it was my uncle taking me to highbury when I was young (late 80s / early 90s) that realy got me into Arsenal and football.
My Dads a Gooner, thats why I support the Arsenal, he made sure I had an Arsenal baby kit on when he carried me out of the hospital for the first time!!!
My brother however was a manure fan and then he decided to support Charlton as the other half of my family comes from greenwich, I think he supported both to piss me and my dad off mainly!!

I've heard a lot of people mention this. I think it used to be very common right through to the 1960's, in the days when there was nothing else to do BUT go to football and when cost and time meant it was impossible to go to away games.
My dad was born in Clapham, but brought up in Islington. If asked, he would say he's an Arsenal fan - but probably more because of me than where he lived. I don't think he has ever been to a football match in his life - although will always watch a game on TV if I'm at it! His brothers though were all big gooners in the 1940-1950's.
PS I can understand the anti-MK Dons feeling, but please move on! The trophies were returned to Merton last week, and away fans no longer give them any stick - other than the usual. They beat West Ham in pre-season (inc Freddie) and I saw them get a creditable draw with Watford (Mart Poom preventing a Dons victory with a great block in the last minute). Hate to say it but Wimbledon were dying on their feet until Pete Winkleman came along. Everyone hated them - and they were always everyones lowest crowd of the season. Maybe if all those who have jumped on the AFC Wimbledon bandwagon since had bothered their arses in the 1990's then they would still be around today!
My dad hated football but if he supported anyone it would have been West Ham as he came from Stratford. He did however take me on my first ever trip to Highbury in 1971. I remember the look of disgust on his face during the crowded tube ride and in the streets around the ground and knew he was'nt enjoying it but I was lapping it up. We sat in the west lower and I think I spent most of my time just looking at the north bank and knowing that the next time I came, I'd be up there and not with my dad. I never did go back to Highbury with him and I don't think he minded that one little bit
My old mans United (shameful i know)
But most of my mums side are Arsenal and i went with them.
I've got a little brother though who is a disgrace to football, he was watchin sky sports news a few years ago saw Rangers on top of the SPL and said he supported rangers but when we laughed because it was the scottish league he then said he supports united because they were on top pf the league at the time Typical
my dad played football on saturdays but his old man was a millwall fan and he used to go down the den.... then one day in the early 60's someone took my old man to Highbury and that was it... he says that it was as though he had finally found his home and can always remember how green the pitch was on the first game of the season. At the age of 5 he took me to my first game and 34 years later we still go together and have season tickets.
Thanks dad you introduced me to my life, and they always will be

You really are a pillock if you think people have forgotten The MK Dons thing. They haven't. You really must get out more. I know of several clubs whose fans can't wait to give the MK scum a kicking. What your lack of intelligence does not register is that unless fans stand together then many other clubs will be ripped from their heartland and become victims of
FRANCHISE FC.
MK Gould consider yourself a Dork. Everybody hates MK Dons.
