DAILY MAIL INSULTS ADAMS

Post by QuartzGooner »

The Daily Mail has written a typical incendiary piece, this time about Tony Adams. Instead on focussing on his great football achievements, it tries to portray him as a chaotic liability.
I reckon this might have been written by a Spurs fan.

Personally I think of Adams for his football, not for the other stuff, much of which is way in the past.

"The mad world of Portsmouth's new boss:

Tony Adams factfile

By Sportsmail Reporter

Tony Adams' appointment as Portsmouth manager marks the start of the latest chapter in the eventful career of the former England skipper and a brave choice by the Fratton Park outfit.

Arsenal legend Adams is as much remembered for being sent to prison for drink-driving, breaking a team-mate's arm during a celebration and dating Caprice, as he is for his on-field successes for club and country."

That second paragraph is the most insulting.

Article by "Sportsmail reporter".........the guy didn't have the bollocks to put his name to it?????

My guess would be that it was written by their "reporter", Ian Ladyman.

That was the guy who quoted Gallas, completely out of context, and made it look as though he had loads of mates at Chelsea, and none at Arsenal.

I've yet to read a more malicious story than THAT one.

I'm going to e-mail the Daily Mail to complain. Again. And ask them to identify the author.

Doubt if I'll get a reply. If I don't then I'll stop buying the paper (even though it's been my daily paper for the past twenty years or so).

If I wanted a paper that takes cheap shots at people, I'd buy the Daily Sport, FFS.

Arsenal legend Adams is as much remembered for turning his life extremely well around after admitting his problems with alcohol at a much earlier stage than Gazza or George Best did, his work reforming alcoholics with Sporting Chance, his Sports Science degree at Brunel University, his learning to play the piano and his absorbing of Wenger's advice and health regime that extended his career by 5 years than he is for being sent to prison for drink-driving and breaking a team-mate's arm during a celebration.

And as if dating Caprice was something to be ashamed of, is this jounalist guy some sort of eunuch?

The Daily Mail is as much remembered for it's support of Hitler's Germany and Moseley's black shirts in the 30s as it is for it's reactionary right wing insecure rantings of a middle aged male menopause victim.

Nothing short of amazing the things Adams has achieved in his playing career - and even more amazing that he has managed to turn his life around when he was at rock bottom!

He done his time as coach at Wycombe, and as assistant to Redknap. He well deserves his chance at Pompey and good luck to him!!
