Calo I'm gonna play Devils advacate for you.
So that say Wenger has £30M as you say.
So Wenger targets player X he costs in the region of £8M-£11M to get.
Then there's wages.
£50k a week over a 3 year deal is £7.8M on wages over the length of the contract.
So in total we've spent £15M-18M on one player.
So looking at that £30M may only get you two players.

Accept whats going on?
Top 4 and champions league EVERY year.
I remember waiting a lot longer than 4 years for a trophy, i remember the many years spent mid-table, boring boring arsenal we were called. I want us to win trophies every year like all us gooners do.....
BUT ITS NOT THAT BAD
this season we not going to be in top 4 - im going to be rich at the endo f the season with bETfair I TELL YOU - this LAYING BETS IS GREAT

I would imagine that is all Calo is wanting. For us to rectify the mistake we made in the summer transfer window.Boomer wrote:Calo I'm gonna play Devils advacate for you.

I know Calo has a strange way of putting himself across, but at the heart of his thread.. all he's really asking is for us to do what we have needed to do all along... buy a defensive midfielder/centre back and/or goalkeeper!
The boycott idea is silly, but Calo's heart is in the right place.. I have no doubt about that.

I agree with you G88ner. I think certain positions are in need of strenghening were the kids are strong enough.
Was mearly pointing out the £30m doesn't go far anymore.
Yes a boycott is a silly and slightly childish response to think to suggest. Most Gunners can see we need to beef up the team.
Which goes against Wengers policy and this is Wengers weakness.
How many years did we put up with the 'Donkey' that was Tony Adams? But what a Legend he became!
It's a chicken and egg senerio. If you play them they learn quicker from they're mistakes but they will need to make mistakes. Or you buy in experience which they needs time to adapt and doing so will also hinder the progress of one of the youth.
Personally I believe there needs to be a balance. TA6 learnt from playing with O'Leary. Who's Denilson got? Old man Fabregas!?
There lays the problem. Cesc needs the experience along side him which allows him to play as in previous years.

A better idea is to write to Wenger.
If thousands of fans write to thim, showing respect but saying that we are frustrated that a team of Adams, Bergkamp, Vieira, Henry, Pires is now a team of
Denilson, Eboue, etc
then it might just work.
Or then again...it might not!
I just think Wenger is playing a long term game, and setting everything up for 2010-2011 season, when the kids are stronger and there is more cash to spend.

Quartz I do hope you're right, although there are some on here who would like Mr.W to be hung drawn etc!
I waited many many years to belong to a club that people are jealous of for our football and I am more than prepared to wait a year or two more if that's what is required to bring home silverware.
