A NEW ANGLE- IM BOARD!!!

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

A NEW ANGLE- IM BOARD!!!

Post by cpmarkw »

hi fellow (well) pissed off gooners

I could very easily join in with the Wenger out bandwagon(believe me)

But i believe the problems deeper and ill show you why with 2 qiuck questions:

1) WHO ON THE BOARD HAS THE SLIGHTEST IDEA ABOUT FOOTBALL????

2) WHO APPOINTED WENGER (unheard of at the time) AND AIDED HIM THROUGH HIS WINNING YEARS?

maybe we should take up rugby/polo/bridge where our board's knowledge
lies!!

As Dylan said its time for the "CHANGING OF THE GUARD!"

The board are not as remote as is commonly believed.

The Carr brothers have been around a long time, Roger Carr is involved with the youth set up on a day to day basis, and Clive Carr takes a good interest in matters.

Ken Friar is heavily involved in the club, has been for over 60 years. Negotiates all trasfers and was involved in new stadium.

Danny Fiszmann, though living in Switzerland, is hands on. Keeps close eye on financial side.

Peter Hill-Wood is semi retired, though attends League Chairmen's meeting every year. Largely a figurehead, but has been on board a long time.

I believe that Lord Harris and Sir Chips Keswick are fans, but on board as money men, particularly involved in financing new stadium.

Lady Nina is not a long time football person from what she has said in interview, but has taken a greater interest since joining board. To be fair to her she is involved in the corporate hospitality side of things, and is administering her husband's shares who cannot be day to day because of ill health.

David Miles in secretary, guess by nature of his job he is heavily involved in the admin side.

That said, if a board member is unhappy with team selection, I very much doubt they can actually approach Wenger about that.

They would hire and fire, but from all accounts Wenger terms of employement are that he does his job unimpeded by board interference.

That's very kind of you Olgit, but if I am not at a game on weekday evenings, I am almost always at work (I often work very late) or studying.
