CESC IN THE DOLDRUMS

Post by QuartzGooner »

Last month we had a flurry of activity on here with various quotes by Cesc allegedly showing he would return to Spain sooner than later.

I firmly believed Cesc would stay with us for another 3-5 seasons.
From what I saw tonight I am changing my mind.

He has been poor this season:

His workrate has dropped.
His pass accuracy has dropped.
His goals have dried up.
His body language on the pitch is negative.

Reasons Why?

ON THE PITCH:

He has no proper partner to be a central defensive midfielder.

This means Cesc has to help out the below par players next to him.
He therefore plays deep like he did two seasons ago, and is not pushed forward like last season, where he is more effective as an attacking player.

OFF THE PITCH:

His good mates Senderos, Flamini and Hleb have gone.

I think he is thoroughly fed up, and is seriously considering going home this summer.

Sadly quartz i think your spot on. Cesc was poor tonight and has been well off his form from last year. Still the best player we've got, but think this may be his last year.

Lets just hope we get a few good results behind us, Wenger buys what we need in january, and we end the season well, otherwise, think it may be adios cesc

Yes sadly I also think that you're right. Cesc must be looking at what is going on around him on the pitch and at the club and thinking to himself what am I doing here? The rest have left and I am here carrying a team with no support.

He will be off, of course this was always going to happen sooner or later. Sadly it will be sooner when it could have been a lot later.

I know where I will lay the blame.

Rob.

Indeed off the boil completely this season and appears to have got even slower than he was... If big money were to come in next summer we'll seriously have to look at the situation because atm he's actually counter productive in our play slowing it down giving the opposition a chance to get their shape and then whenever he attempts passing the forward it just isn't coming off. Poor, poor season so far, whats happened to the Cesc we all know and love.

:(

There's not much I want to say on this subject, as it's bitterly disappointing, but..

If the club (Wenger) is trying to force him out, then they're doing a good job!

His friends & midfield companions (Hleb & Flamini) have gone...

He's even talked about how he misses playing with Hleb, Flamini and Rosicky, and how it allowed him to play his natural game, successfully. He also spoke about how different it is now, with Theo, Denilson and Nasri.

He even talks about how he's gone from being the youngest of the midfield to the oldest in the space of a few months!

He's being overplayed to exhaustion!

He's being asked to do too much donkey work that Flamini would do, and Denilson doesn't!

All in all, it must be very unsettling for the lad, and when the likes of Real Madrid and Barca are desperate to sign you... it must be very tempting to upsticks and go home!

Agree with what's already been said. If nothing changes he might leave us.

I think RVP is in much the same position too.

If Cesc decides to leave us this summer it will be Wenger's biggest fuck up so far.

No doubt the man who now brims with arrogance will blame all and sundry for his departure including telling us we are to blame as we don't love the fella enough.

He has been mostly poor this season but I don't attach any blame to him. If his head has been allowed to turm prematurely to home nobody can blame him.

Still, next season we can look forward to the Amuary Bischoff show on Sky One.

He could do with a rest at some point and the return of Mozart in Jan (I hope), plus we must get in a defensive midfielder in January. Maybe that would get some of his old spark back

I agree, he looks down. I saw him wave to someone in an exec box last night and if he can't even raise his game for his family/friends, then how can he raise it for us.

I would say up t now that the Euros has taken its toll but he just looks unhappy and his game is suffering without Flamini.

That said, how well are Flamini and Hleb actually doing? Cesc is smart and wouldnt move without really knowing it could benefit his game.

The same place all of our blame lies for our regression since 2004? I agree.

spot on Quartz; you can see the guy has had it with the team-
wenger doesnt even rest him which is stupid- i think cesc is biding his time and then wait in the summer and you'll see the boy will be heading off

At the moment Cesc is playing for a team whose manager has no ambition.A manager who refuses to buy quality players.Who lets players go without replacing them.
Cesc wants us to compete with Man Utd and Chelsea. What is Wenger actually doing to make Cesc stay.F**k all :banghead: :banghead:
Cesc will go in the summer and there"s no Gooner who can blame him :banghead: :banghead:

I'm no expert in the science of body language but you wouldn't need to be an expert looking at Cesc Fabregas last night. He looked totally frustrated and forlorn.

I've never seen Cesc look so down. His shoulders were slumped and he didn't really seem up for it. I know that players have bad days and bad games but his performances haven't been up to the standard of last season. And last night was his worst.

Maybe its just the fact he misses his mates Hleb, Senderos and Flamini. They were all very close off the field so perhaps Cesc needs to get over the fact they are not there anymore.

The teams plight certainly isn't helping matters. Arsenal are lacking form and confidence and when that happens teams tend to look to their best player for inspiration. Fabregas is Arsenal's best player but at the age of 21 that is too much pressure for him too handle. Hence the reason he isn't captain.

There is no doubt that Fabregas is among the best midfielders in the world but even the best needs a solid partner to help. Last season he had Flamini as his side-kick and I'd argue that their partnership would have developed to be as good as the Vieira-Petit combination.

This season Denilson is his partner and I think that together they have struggled. Denilson is a good player but I don't think that he is up to playing every week consistently yet. I think Denilson is a good stand by for Cesc at the moment and will be a great player in the future but Cesc needs more than he offers. Saying that I thought Denilson had a decent game last night.

I'm not saying that Cesc Fabregas wants to leave Arsenal, far from it, but I do feel he is becoming increasingly frustrated at the direction of the club at the moment. We had such a promising team last season and went desperately close to winning honours. He then wins the Euro's with Spain only for Arsenal to be struggling this season. No wonder he is frustrated.

Any need to post that same message in 3 threads Rilub?

We know copy and paste is your game but it gets a bit childish pasting the same piece in multiple threads
