CL or World Cup?

Post by DB10GOONER »

Would you rather Arsenal win the Champions League or *your country* win the World Cup? With you sitting in the stadium at the final!

It has always got to be club before country. Nothing can compare(sorry Sinead) with your team winning a trophy.

Ooooh..that's a tough one.

I'd like to see both happen, and wouldn't be displeased with either...

Admittedly though I think Arsenal have a better chance of winning the CL than Ireland do of winning the WC...

But I'll go with club here, so Arsenal to win CL.

That's not even close to making me think club or country Arsenal will always come 1st, don't get me wrong when England play i support them with all my heart i'm even going England v Germany and England v Russia games but if it means i miss something to do with the arsenal i wouldn't be going

Also the Arsenal have more chance of winning something than England

Close but I pick country because England winning the world cup is just going to be so rare whereas Arsenal could win the CL a couple of times once we win our first.

Not that England will ever win the world cup, what with the press sabotaging our chances before we even start.

CL all the way
You play for your club week in week out
With lets just say England there all play together about 7 times a year with two games useually being friendles
Some players for there club are brillant but for there country there complete shite who can't play with the different tactics etc that are being used by the manager of the team
The world cup is important to those who get picked for it if they have played well for there club the season leading up to it
It's only every 4 years which is a pitty compared to the CL in which is played every year with sometimes different teams
Clubs create the world cup with the players people pay to watch & that is why the world cup is the biggest thing going

I remember driving down to Wembley for the Euro Championship Semi Final v Germany in 1996 (which we of course lost on penalties). It was amazing. We had a flag out of the roof, and people were waving to us and giving the thumbs up - as if we were going down there to play!

The sheer emotion generated by a national success versus club has to be seen/felt to be believed - and there has been nothing like it in England since. A CL win wouldn't be far behind - but winning the World Cup would definitely be the top!

Champions League all the way. Would you really want to see people like Rooney. Cashley and Fat Frank lifting the world cup and getting praised?

I hate it when people say Arsenal don't have enough English players :x Has anyone seen the so called Great English players play for england lately we're Fecking perfetic Fat Frank is shite, Rooney apparently isn't an out and out goal scorer when he plays for england (whats that about?) the goal keepers are CLOWNS and as for Englands Defence, that just makes me laugh when people say there the best in the world  i only really rate Gerrard, Hargerves (Who i slagged of big time before the world cup) but take it all back he was our best player, and i rate Beckham but unfortunatly hes past his best.

however i still pay to go see them because they are my country but i wouldnt put them before Arsenal also i think our U21 are better than the senior squad least they look like they are trying when they are on the field

Im not really into England matches, how can you hate all the Man Ure, Liverpool Sp*rs (not that many get a look in) players all season then cheer them for England? I dont understand. Also when was the last time you enjoyed watching an entertaining England match? Prob when we beat Germany back in 2001

Arsenal above England anytime

Its Arsenal by a margin a ratio of about 5 000 000 000 000 000 to 1. Always has been, always will be.

At the moment, the English National team has got be at one of its lowest points. Overrated, over-indulged, self-serving **** supported by a significant minority of thugs/lager fuelled half-wits (some fall into both categories) who think that it's funny to put down every non-English person they come into contact with, then swear allegance to a German Queen.

Panorama was right, we might have kept most of the serious hooligans out of Germany last year, but all we ended up doing was exporting the idiots who are in our towns and cities every weekend.

I still love England but they ain;t the same team i use to like
Sadly my first matches are among the Mcdonut era
I went to my first england match at Wembley against Brazil & TBH i was bored & even left early in which is a rare thing for me
It may of only been a friendly but this is what the players are called up for is to play there best for the country or at least equal to how good they play for there club
I will still & go & watch England whenever i can & i'm off to Wembley for the Germany & Irseal games & hopeing my Mum will allow me to buy a Russia tciket
More people will say CL because they go & watch the team week in week out but with there country it's harder for some people to go & travel down south (in a view of a northern) as it was for us going up north to OT to watch England play
We might change our minds if the team (England) become good for once & stop getting compared to 66
Being told everytime at a world cup about 1966 is not the best thing to do as it adds more stress to the team & we can easily see when we go out afterwards
When we go out there's always someone to blame whether it's a player (Ronaldo) or a ref
If we quit laying off the team if it does go to world cups then i'm sure one day we might win it when i'm 40
If we did win the world cup it would be such a special thing as it might even get Arsenal & Tottenham fans getting along
