As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I think this is something of a myth. The ball moves a lot more now so keepers need to be a lot more agile (you don't get chubby lumps like Neville Southall, Tim Flowers, Chris Woods, Peter Shilton etc playing in the top leagues now)... the best keepers in the world (arguably) are Casillas and Cech.... they're both mid 20s and have been at the top for ages.
There will of course be acceptions but Casillas is 27 and Cech 26 both in there late 20's.

Personally I think he's more then pushing Alumina for the No 1 spot. Apart from the cross which wasn't a fuck up but a judgement error I still had alot of confidence in him. More convidence then I have with Alumunia.
I saw him come out for lose balls at ease, Collect crosses with confidence and made some strong saves. Not counting the save towards the end.
The problem is with all goalkeepers is that there mistakes are strongly highligted. Ramsey made some several dodgy passes and Vela lost the ball a few times. But we're not talking about them!?! (both of which players I belive will be absolutley fantastic players.)
Goal keeper don't hit there peak until the age of 30+, Seaman joined us from QPR at the age of 27, Fabianski is only 23!! and therefore is still learning the game and has another 5+ before he really hits top form.
That's got to be one of the funniest things I've ever read.
Hitler? well, apart from the little tiff he had between 1939 and 45, he was a lovely bloke.
As far as I'm concerned a error of judgement is a fuck up. You can dress it up however you want, it's still a fuck up. I also saw him come for crosses, and I recall him missing some too.
He has different strengths and weaknesses to Almunia but in no way is he ready to be the number one at the Spuds let alone Arsenal. His only advantage, as I said at the beginning of this thread is that he has youth on his side.

Lol! I'll give you that one.
What I meant was that error didn't cost us a goal so there for (in my eyes) wasn't a fuck up.
he has gret potential but last night he was dodgey
AND IT WASN'T A GREAT DOUBLE SAVE !!!! IT WAS A GREAT RECOVERY SAVE AFTER HE PUSHED A VERY SAVABLE SHOT AT A GOOD HEIGHT FOR A GOALKEEPER STRAIGHT IN THE PATH OF ZAKI ...POOR GOALKEEPING ...GREAT RECOVERY
came on against man utd on sat and did an alright job... brilliant save yesterday. however the game which sticks most in my mind was **** away in the carling cup semi last season, where he was fucking awful.. so he has to do much more to convince me he is a safe pair of hands
