REDaction - A chance to put forward your ideas

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Gonna get shot down for this but really dont like that Paddy song. Maybe because its always sung too fast but the West Ham fans were in fits of laughter when we sang it at Upton Park this season. Too slow & repetitive for me but hey, if others like it & hundreds will sing it then Im in.

Thought Wonder of You was a good idea by the club but it just hasnt taken off. Think we need to accept that we will never have A You'll Never Walk Alone or Take Me Home. Good Old Arsenal seems to be the song most associated with us by other clubs. I'd be happy for them to play that instead of Elvis with a good video on the screen.

Is anyone from RedAction monitoring this thread.??

I have a suggestion. Perhaps have the 'meet' on a saturday where more people who want to attend can. Having a meeting on a weeknight from 5:30 ending more than an hour before kick off i feel is a little unproductive and personally gives me the impression that they're doing the "have a meeting at time where are unlikely to be able to attend" and "at a place we won't tell you unless you ask"

So much for being an open forum to have a chat about matters.

I assume the meeting is in the rocket? But it was stupid of them not to mention it.

The meeting can't be in the rocket as its a weekday match.

Personally i'm starting to think of RedAction a little like the LibDems, i know who they are but i have no idea what they do or where they do it, or how they go about it.

They've offered a meeting that is extremely difficult to attend and when they could quite easily have done the opposite.

RedAction have no online forum of their own so you would expect that one of the them would be all over this one like a rash, yet RedAction seem some what missing. There have been other threads directed directly at them that have recieved no response.

They negotiated using the Rocket on weekend match days, yet in the two years i've been driking there i've not seen a 'RedAction' supporters soundbox or any discussion of issues. There are two floors to that place, use upstairs for a meeting week in week out and leave everyone downstairs to get pissed.

Come on redAction make your presence known.

I would like to nominate myself as our delgate/special envoy at this meeting!

I will start a thread with my ideas that could be put forward to the military junta that is RedAction and whatever wins I will propose and subsequently force the group to back and undertake!

As I can not make the meeting I sent them this email yesterday

At the Everton game I was inside the ground at 2pm with my 9 year old son and noticed how empty the ground was and how quiet it was, at 2.45 my son turned to me and said where are all the people dad. I explained how they were probably still in the pub!!!! I fully understand that it is cheaper to drink in the rocket etc but wouldn't it be better if the Redaction group/singing section(?) were in the ground at least 20 min before kick off trying to get the atmosphere going abit before kick off?

Would it be possible to have an official Redaction bar/meeting area within the ground where fans could meet and drink/sing together, I know this might be a problem with the club but is it not worth asking?

I understand Arsenal are in consultation with a company over Arsenalization of the ground are Red Action involved in this process?

Do Redaction and the Arsenal supporters club work together on ideas for atmosphere for the ground. If not wouldnt this be a good idea to help apply some pressure on the club itself?

I think places like the rocket have become a victim of its own success. Plenty of people will go there just to be associated with the whole redaction thing but are no where to be seen come the march, which should be a lot earlier.

I personally would split those in Block 5 up, moving sections around the lower tiers to encourage singing. Like other people have said, they sing too fast. These guys should be spreading themselves out throughout the stadium and encourage others to join in. I know this wont be easy with the clubs usual stance of avoiding common sense but if you can take many different ideas to the club, they might be willing to listen.

I think that REDaction needs to reach the masses and be seen as more open and not a closed shop, which I know many see them being. What better vehicle than the OnlineGooner?

Many of our members already use the Rocket on a regular basis so a link is already there. It would be good to see REDaction have their own section here on the forum so that everyone can read about what they are trying to do, where thoughts and ideas can be exchanged and discussed openly. A regular column in the Gooner fanzine would also help reach out to those that don't frequent the online version.

I agree with the earlier poster who said that REDaction should have an information point at the Rocket where people can ask about current campiaigns. I visit the Rocket each time I attend a match and have never once seen anything to do with REDaction, this has to be a failing on their behalf.

Information stands within the concourse area of the stadium should also be considered. Here fans should be able to pick up song sheets and news of upcoming events being organised by REDaction.

I know that many are sceptical of REDactions involvement and see them as too close to the club, but I believe that us fans should use what they already have established and help drive it forwards.

Let's stop bitching and moaning about the lack of atmosphere and nstead lets do something positive to help change it.

The Herd already have a massive flag with Denton on it, amongst other things, its been seen at Fenerbache and LIverpool away, but for some health and safety shit we cant have it at home games. Get rid of that shit the wonder of you, and also the fucking embarrasing announcer who asks everyone to announce the last names of the players.

I recived a reply from the email I sent to Redaction that I put on here earlier.

Thanks for your mail.
I will ensure I cut & paste all of the emails from people like you - that cant come to the meeting, but have given us some input.
I will then pass this list of suggestions onto the other REDaction guys, so that we have all read them before the general meeting.

Re your actual questions - I have answered them below:

Steve,

Dear sirs,

STG-At the Everton game I was inside the ground at 2pm with my 9 year old son and noticed how empty the ground was and how quiet it was, at 2.45 my son turned to me and said where are all the people dad. I explained how they were probably still in the pub!!!! I fully understand that it is cheaper to drink in the rocket etc but wouldn't it be better if the Redaction group/singing section(?) were in the ground at least 20 min before kick off trying to get the atmosphere going abit before kick off?

RedAction-The main guys from REDaction DO try & leave the Rocket earlier by bringing forward "the March" time - however, what can we do if 100 to 300 other gooners want to stay in the bar till 2:30 / 2:40 before they leave?

STG-Would it be possible to have an official Redaction bar/meeting area within the ground where fans could meet and drink/sing together, I know this might be a problem with the club but is it not worth asking?

RedAction-We have asked this question to the club - we have suggested the bar area near block 6,7&8.

STG-I understand Arsenal are in consultation with a company over Arsenalization of the ground are Red Action involved in this process?

RedAction-Simple - no we are not!! - at the Fans Forum meeting the club told supporters they would not ask any fans advise, that way they can get ot dome quicker!! Fingers crossed that we all like it.

STG-Do Redaction and the Arsenal supporters club work together on ideas for atmosphere for the ground. If not wouldnt this be a good idea to help apply some pressure on the club itself?

RedAction-Yes REDaction do work with supporters clubs, and we always will, as we would like to think we have the same goals, we work close with Maidstone Gooners, South East Essex Gooners, Herts & Beds Gooners (as these 3 have members that are also part of REDaction), we also work close with AISA & the AST, plus we are on good terms with the owner & editor of the gooner, as well as Mickey Cannon & the Highbury Spy (view from the east)

I would like Redaction to start the march to the Grove about a half hour earlier.

Get in there. And start singing.

Don't let the oppos have it their own way.

I would like the club to recognise blocks 19 & 24 and allow them the same leaniency given to blocks 5 & 6. Afterall these are the blocks next to the away fans and if anywhere in the ground should be noisey and standing, then it is here. REDaction being as far away from the opposition just seems plain daft.
