clichy can be captain...but what a present to spurs in the last derby....everything happened because in the team there's no leaders...and someone stop playing football for personal disguise...where's the Club? nothing happen in one day...i want to say that just last season troubles can be seen many many time in the team...st.andrews and league cup semifinal...this year troubles comes out more explicit ways...cigarette and 4 lose....where's the Club???
they are still too young to understand that little problems btw players results an infernal damage to all Arsenal Fans...we draw a just-win derby...what a shame...clichy captain is last of our problems at the moment...

im sorry but i cant agree with everyone touting clichy's name as a potnetial captain.
yes, he is mr loyalty, will never speak out against the club, the boss, the fans or be anything remotely controversial. he is a model professional and will always give 100% but he's no leader. he quietly gets on with his role and offends nobody, he's not the one getting in players faces and making them give more than they feel they can give when the shit hits the fan.
the only candidates are fabregas and almunia. almunia showed how he can raise his game and lead by example in istanbul. he played the role very well away from home, in a hostile environment and put himself on the line for the team
fabregas is probably the odds on favourite for the role because of his ability and the example he (normally) sets. he is the nearest thing we have to a 'Mr Arsenal' but as we all learned from thierry henry's performance with the armband, mr arsenal is NOT always mr right.
it has to be almunia

No.
I say we recall our saviour Phillipe Senderos from AC Milan in January, whilst selling William Gallas at the same time to the first club who submit an offer.
From here, Phillipe Senderos No 6 takes the Captaincy & becomes the Big/Tall/Strong Centre-Back that we've all been looking for, only a bit more experienced & ready. Also, we don't have to spend the money that we wouldn't spend anyway because we don't have it.
Our new captain then partners Kolo Toure - our Vice Captain - in the middle of the park and then they go on to form a solid partnership as they both complement each others abilites.
Senderos has the steel & ariel ability whilst Toure has the speed and versatility.
What a fucking plan
What a dream actually

Everything you mention is true. However, the more I think about it, the more I'm staring to see that Fabregas is the only good option. He is not ideal, I can't see anyone in this team being a fraction of the captain Adams,Vieira or Henry were because maybe the most import attribute for a captain is that the other look up to him. Clichy is a good player and as you mention probably very wel "respected" within in the team. That's very different from being somebody the others look up to though, the way they've done with our other great captains. I think Cesc the only one in the team everybody looks up to and would listen to whenever he rasises his vocie.QuartzGooner wrote:IF Gallas is stripped of the captaincy for his comments, he may likely leave in January.
Even if he stays but is stripped of the captaincy, who should be new skipper?
I go for Clichy.
He is a regular starter, which is an essential qualification.
He works hard, which is also essential.
He has a good temperament, with little history of outburst or disciplinary problems.
Also believed to be very popular and respected within the squad.
Others may go for Cesc.
I think he may leave in the summer, and right now is in such poor form that surely he needs to focus on that rather than leading the team?
Toure is a "vice captain", but I think he is too quiet a person to be a skipper.
He is no longer assured of starting place either.
Sagna might be a surprise choice.
At 25 he is an elder player, but he is still new and seems very quiet.
Robin Van Persie is also an elder player, believed to be offered a new contract.
He has passion, but for me is too ill disciplined to be a skipper.
Adebayor?
Has spirit and heart, but will he be at the club next season?
Will he continue to be an automatic starter.
Djourou?
Calm temperament, but young and not yet an automatic starter.
Almunia?
Good age, experienced, but my hunch is that Fabianski will be first choice keeper next season.
Based on how Aw's been picking his skippers in the past I reckon the armband will go to Almunia though, which in my opinion is joke...his team mates don't even seem to listen to him when he comes out for crosses!

.
Maybe the this is exactly the right to do just because this might kep him with the team and return him to the right stageOthers may go for Cesc.

But giving Henry the armband did not stop him leaving a season later.KAQAK wrote:.Maybe the this is exactly the right to do just because this might kep him with the team and return him to the right stageOthers may go for Cesc.

Players want trophies, and Cesc can see it is unlikely he will win any soon at Arsenal unless drastic action is taken.
Interesting article by Amy Lawrence in today's Observer. She is very close to the club so has better insight than most about what is going on.
