As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
seriously though, a choice between capitulation when the going gets tough and the POSSIBILITY of finishing with 10 men isnt much of a choice in my eyes. i totally understand what you mean though, he is a fiery one. but imagine being cesc and having a smug look on your face every time the opposition goes forward because of the 6ft albanian monster likely to put his foot in and come out on top. denilson anyone?! we need it to get the best out of our most prized asset
Thing is though we’re all quick to throw names into the ring but nobody’s really addressing the issue of how much money there actually is or isn’t available to spend.
Don’t get me wrong I know that’s most probably because none of us know exactly what the situation is money wise but that’s my point… we don’t know and yet a lot of us are saying that if Wenger doesn’t spend big in Jan it will be proof his head’s stuck in the sand or up his arse and take it as confirmation he should go.
Like I said in response to augie’s suggestion we get Given I would love the guy at the club but if the money available is about £30m for transfer and wages and the cost of getting Given came to about £5m transfer fee and £18.5m wages that would be £23.5m in total… leaving £6.5m to spend on a DM! That‘s £6.5m left to either buy a £6.5m player and pay him nothing, or buy someone on a free and pay them about £30k a week, or somewhere in between the two.
Obviously that’s a big simplification but the point is maybe we need to be a lot more realistic about just who Wenger is even gonna be able to buy in Jan before we say spend big or else.
