The Return Of Eddy

Post by ramon »

So today is the day - Eduardo is back. The Croatian media have block booked the press box, and there could be a larger than normal crowd.

Eduardo has been brilliant in recovery and could come back even faster than before, and with all the skills that made him so special. But he also said he still needs another six weeks to put him at the top again.

Hopefully those six weeks will include some cameo appearances for the first team.

Meanwhile The Tiny Fantasists did what they do best - made utter fools of themselves. At their AGM everyone was saying how wonderful the plan for the new 60,000 stadium is (ignoring the fact that they have double-counted the number of fans that they have waiting for tickets, as we discussed a few weeks back). It was all slap-each-other-on-the-back time until bubbling over with bon homie and enthusiasm Mr Leavy asked Mr Red Napp to give a quick run down on how the team was doing.

The manager said, if you are asking if this team could get into the top four, the answer is nothing like. It¿s relegation material. Of course everyone knew that - but Mr Leavy had actually said just a few minutes before that there was no money to buy new players in the January transfer window. Bit of a problem then. Still, Eduardo at Barnet. That¿s more like it. Bischoff on the wing, a run out perhaps for Wilshere, Merida playing at being Cesc in the middle Looking like quite a team

Can I just add a note of caution here. I have been worried by the idolisation of a guy who frankly has not done a huge amount for us yet. However if you read the countless threads on him since his injury you would think he had done more than TH14, DB10 and PV4 combined.

he has had an horrendous injury and may take many more months to get back to match fitness let alone god status. We all also need to bear in mind he might never be right. :(

I just feel there are so many people thinking that his return will be like the second coming and the answer to all our ills that it can only be a disappointment. It will also not help him if there is this huge expectation hanging over him. I for one will be happy if he is coming on as a sub and banging in a few important goals in the run in. Anything more than that is a massive bonus.

Give the guy a chance and be realistic about what is likely to happen.

Tin hat on. :fryingpan:

Spot on Chippy!

They guy was looking class when the horrific happened but he was still a long way from being a hero and he faces an even harder job becoming an Arsenal legend now!

Good to have him back though!

I'll tell you what worries me. I'm also pretty certain that I'm not the only who has thought this either.

Is Wenger about to tell us that Eduardo coming back from injury and the possible return of Senderos are like having two new signings.

What's the betting that we get spun that line very soon.

Remember, you heard it here first

From what I hear he is not having the best of times at Milan and they have indicated that they don't want him. Whether that means they have to keep him for the season or not, I don't know. We may have to take him back in January but if not then almost certainly in June. Unless of course some other idiot signs him up. London Transport maybe? At least then they could measure the streets to see if there is sufficient turning circle without actually having to take a bus into them.

think there is to a extent a lot of expectation on eddy but remeber his finishing was crucial for us- the guy can out the ball in the back of the net when it matters unlike some of our other idiots.

Yes it may take eddy longer & i along with the many gooners am praying the boy makes a speedy return to the 1st team

Eduardo will make his long-awaited Arsenal comeback in tonight’s Reserve encounter with Portsmouth at Underhill.

The Croatian international has not appeared in red-and-white since suffering a broken leg and dislocated ankle against Birmingham in February but, after extensive rehabilitation, the striker is finally back in competitive contention.

Speaking ahead of Tuesday’s clash with Portsmouth, Reserve team manager Neil Banfield discussed Eduardo’s potential role in the match before paying tribute to Arsenal’s medical staff.

“Eduardo is starting tonight,â€
