Bobby Robson

Post by Rob »

I was watching the Newcastle v 'pool game in the 49ers bar without much interest, as it was so one sided.

It got to half time and the showed a guy - well atired - but obviously in distress and being led to his seat, with a blanket etc.,

My initial reaction was that it was Jackie Milburn or someone similar. Turns out it was Sir Bob.

Football - as we all know - is full of self seeking, avaricious, nasty characters who are unlovely to a man. This reminded me of how bad things are for Sir B and what a fine fellow he is - and always has been.

A credit to the game right from his earliest days at Fulham and Ipswich.

Let's hope everyone here and beyond remembers that. :barscarf: :barscarf:

I was speechless when i saw him. I had to question inside if it was him and not someone else, then the commentator said and they showed the banner.

He deserved to win a trophy for Newcastle. Will be such a sad day when he goes.

Thoroughly decent bloke. I really hated his tenure as England Manager though.
He'll be a sad loss.
