2 Questions for the Critics
If/When Wenger did leave I would think that most of the top managers around the world would be knocking on the door.
We have a first class youth set up
World class training facilities
World class stadium
A sound financial plan for the future
and most of all
Money to spend
What manager would not want any of those things

This thread seems like an excuse to have a pop, to be honestTheOne2Smooth wrote:1) Ok you want Wenger to go, so REALISTICALLY who would you replace him with?
2. You are the Manager now what players would you buy? they have to be eligable for the Champs League!
Cant wait to see your replys

I'll turn those questions round, Smoothy.....
1. HONESTLY... how much did you know about Wenger in the years before he joined Arsenal?
2. HONESTLY... how much did you know about Vieira, Petit, Sagna, etc before they joined Arsenal?
My point is, the questions you've asked cannot possibly be answered and neither are YOU in any position to dismiss the answers given, because as you say, you don't even know much about Inler... so what's the point of the thread??

Anyway, VERY FEW fans would want Wenger sacked now... I know I wouldn't! I'm frustrated and a little disillusioned, but I'm still hoping Wenger can sort it out

I completely agree. Arsenal is a great club. We aren't some decent club like Everton, Villa or Blackburn. We are a massive club.augie wrote: I know fans all over the world like to think that their club is bigger than it actually is but we are a big big club, especially on the european stage, and I have no doubt that if wenger stepped away tomorrow we would have a ton of applications for the job.
Our history goes back years and the idea that a manager could not find the prospect of challenging man utd, chelsea and liverpool for the league while also trying to be the first manager to win the champins league with us exicting beggers believe.
This is a great club and a very exicting project for a top class manager and we are certain to get a top class manager when Wenger leaves us (if the board don't offer it to pat rice first).
1.Wenger"s job is to win trophies and get us in the CL.If he fails to do that he should leave at the end of the season. If he cant see the likes of Song Diaby Eboue and Denilson are not good enough players for us to even challenge for the title he is failing in his job.
Frank Rijkard is avaiable a CL winner, O"Neill would join us tomorrow if we approached him it is bullshit to suggest there is no one to replace Wenger, has a got the fucking job for life?
2.Shay Given(can play in CL)
Arteta(can play in CL)
Laursen(can play in CL)

1. Mourinho.......boring maybe but knows how to win things
2. Upson, makeleli (spelling) would be a good start.
It isn't an easy question to answer really. I don't have the scouting networks available to me that a professional manager does. Sometimes the right person is the last one you would think of. After all, who would have thought that a striker would become a world class left back?????
Personally I want Wenger to get things right and stay but if he refuses to address, or cannot see the issues we have then he NEEDS to go. I don't want it, but I'm not against it if it is for the best.

I knew off Wenger only through papers but that aint my point Wenger is the greatest Arsenal manager bar none and gets the lack of loyalty shown by several gooners it undeserved! Arsenal dont have the Money Man utd, Chelsea and Liverpool have to throw around the day Wenger is no longer Arsenals manager will be a dark day

After 12 years at the club and having rarely been questioned I don't think anyone calling for Wengers head now or at the end of the season can be accused of being dis-loyal. The current state of the team and it's current league position right now leaves only one man accountable. The Manager. If it ain't going right it is perfectly normal for questions to be raised.
For Arsenal to be competing this season we wouldn't have had to spend vast sums of money like the other teams. We would simply have had to kept all the players we let go and added a couple more.
Wenger went into the start of this season allowing certain players to leave and not really strenghtening with the replacements. He clearly felt Denilson and Diaby were ready to step up. They aren't. He felt he could get a full season from Fabregas who had hardly had a break thanks to the Euro's. He hasn't. He must be accountable for these mistakes and he must rectify them. If he does not then we are now looking at the team for the rest of this season. Probably minus a player in Jan. And it certainly ain't looking good.
Right now Wenger is looking at saving his job in my eyes. Some of his post match interviews are cringeworthy lately, bordering on embarassing really. If he doesn't overhaul I can't see fourth at the end of this year. I can't see Denilson, Diaby, Song, Bendtner etc being any better next season to reclaim fourth the year after. I have a lot of faith in Wenger and really hope I'm wrong and somewhere in that bunch is a future player of the year. But I've watched a lot of football in my years and seen a lot of potential. I don't see it in the current group.
Anyone questioning where this team will take us this year has a fair gripe.

just checked out some of his videos, the guy brought a smile to my face. thats exactly the sort of player we need, a no nonsense player who wont be bullied. although im not sure his two-footed tackles would go down well in this league any more. but still he looks like a real grafter.digger wrote:I'd like to see Lorik Cana in an Arsenal shirt, nasty fucker in midfield, but he's already played for Marseilles in the CL.
Saying that, we need a "destroyer" in midfield for the Premiership rather than the CL... we could probably get away with a light midfield against Ities and Spaniards.
I do hate the argument that Wenger can't be replaced, there are tons of managers, some famous like the Capello's, some unknown like Wenger was and some in lower leagues like GG was. Is there truly none capable enough and willing for the job? If England can get Capello, why can't we get a great manager?
There are advantages to joining us over others but if we have money this summer when other clubs are cutting back then our chances of getting a top top manager will be far greater then it was before.

you cant think of any CDMS who are good enoughdigger wrote:1: Wouldn't sack him because there is noone good enough available
2: Upson. Erm, can't think of any eligible CDMs who are good enough?

i can name 100s who would be better then what we have now, maybe if you took off your gooner tinted glasses and had a thought for yourself once in a while instead of this blind loyalty

everyone can have a guess 2smooth
but been serious there are a lot of very good players out there who would love to play for arsenal and yet we get eboue and denilson etc who are just not good enough for any team with title aspirations.
sometimes it wouldn't hurt to admit things and stop been so anal about anyone prepared to criticize the club and wenger

I know that I have said recently that you have to largely ignore most of what wenger says but this evenings quotes in the evening standard take the piss (maybe someone can put up a link ??
). Basically he says that this team is ready to dominate the premiership and that they are not 10% away from being good enough to do that but rather 1% or 2%
As if that wasnt bad enough he also said that he doesnt think that this team has been getting enough praise for their efforts
If wenger really feels that then I personally will phone the funny farm to get the men in white coats to take him away cos that is a ridiculous statement to make
