Barry Ferguson?

Barry Ferguson?

Post by 26may1989 »

Someone may have suggested this already but anyone think signing Barry Freguson would be a good idea? Newcastle were supposed to be trying to sign him for £3mil. He's 30 but, given how weak we are in defenisve midfield and how we're shopping in the bargain bucket, that looks a good price for a combative midfielder who's always played in British football.

Hiya 26. Good to see you on here again mate! 8) How's things?

Can't agree though about Ferguson. BIG difference between Scotball and the English PL...

Nah.

He was only at Blackburn for a season and a half and then when it got tough he f*cked off.

Plus he's 30.

If we want cheap, get a loanee in, otherwise splash the cash at get Yaya.

He was crap at Blackburn but we're not going to get Yaya etc, and most of our cash is earmarked for Arshavin. The other suggestion in the pot at the moment is Battaglia from Boca - 28 years old, coming from Argentine football and a flop at Villareal (and his family apparently couldn't adjust to life in Spain, so fuck knows how they'd cope with the UK). Sounds too risky to me. I'm not a fan of Ferguson but as a stop-gap, I'd be happier with him on the cheap than someone from France, Spain, South America etc who could well be better but would be more of a gamble.

And hello to you too DB10 - thought I'd see how it's all going. Stuff going well, including (so far) my mum's chemotherapy. Hope all's good with you, despite the shit season we're having, and you're enjoying that promotion you got.

Glad to here things are going well for your mum mate. 8) My mum is having her 5 year all clear check up today. Fingers crossed.

Promotion is a double edged sword... lot more work and responsibilty for not that much more money...

But Bullard plays higher up the pitch - he might be an ugly fucker but he's not a defensive midfielder.

Ferguson’s a die-hard Rangers fanatic and a bit like Carragher at Liverpool is twice the player at/for “his clubâ€
