Arsenal’s relegation on Match of the Day

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Arsenal’s relegation on Match of the Day

Sometimes you gotta take da ruff with da shmoov...and sometimes you are the featured game, others you are in last slot with no team line up graphics.

Do the channels show bias to us compared to other teams?

Do any pundits have it in for us?

Does anyone still watch MOTD? I gave up years ago.

MOTD want to tell a narrative of the day's games, in order to keep viewers with the show, now that there are so many channels and they're competing with Football First.

You can always tell what kind of result Arsenal have got by how high up the running order we are. If we've played a team we should beat and are up first, you know we have lost. If you don't see us for dust after the first few games, you know we didn't oblige with a shock defeat and will be on safely later with a 'drab' win.

As for Gary Lineker being odd, well he is a very busy man right now. 'The white Barry Obama' is being sworn in soon! Maybe 'the black Gary Lineker' will come over and present MOTD? I'm sure he can.

It's significant to me as I usually fall asleep after the first boring discussion, so would almost certainly fail to see us if we were on last. However, both Portsmouth and Bolton games had very few of what one might call 'highlights'.

If a game is really worth seeing I will usually catch it on 'Football First' on Sky Sports 1 or failing that there are limited highlights on 'Goals on Sunday' - also SS1 where the chat is much better. They even have ex-Gunners like Keown, Raymondo and Smudger, so certainly not anti-Arsenal.

The entire concept of the article is utterly absurd. Even as a Gooner myself, I'm not blind enough to not recognise that from around 1998 up until - well, apparently now - we've been at the top of the show (or thereabouts).

Fans of those non-big four teams will be more than happy to tell you about this, and I can see their point. The likes of BBC and ITV have favoured the top four during the past decade, as they have the best matches, and thereby guarantee strong ratings.

So for Arsenal to be featured last - which is exactly what their pathetic match versus Bolton deserved - and for you to throw your toys out of the pram, is crazy. It's one week, so get over it.

Not 'entire concept' - MOTD is a pretty poor apology now - even for a highlights programme.

That apart, we're all entitled to our opinion I guess.

The best bit of MOTD is the music (and Cesc in the credits  ). :goalie:
