Penalty's

Post by goonermc »

I apologise for making this point so late but i've just seen more highlights of the Arsenal v fulham game and a different commentator again refers to RVP's penalty as 'almost' going over the top and how he 'almost' missed because he slams it in just under the bar.

How when anyone else tucks in a penalty just inside the uprights it's then described as the perfect spot kick????

Is a penalty that scrapes the bar less of a penalty that scrapes the post???

There all out to get us!!!! :D

well, as they say 'opinions are like arseholes ... everyone's got one and its full of sh*t' ... apply that to footbal punditry and analysis ... its a subjective thing and you should not take all comments/opinions seriously ...

In my notso-humble opinion, a good penalty is one in which a goal has been scored, and a bad one is obviously one in which a goal has not been scored .. period ... :D :P

If the ball its the top/side netting then its a quality pen because it generally means the keeper has no chance of reaching it

As far as I'm concerned any penalty that goes in the net is a good penalty.

I was thinking the same thing ! What is this commentator on about? I seen 3 RVP penalties now and he has always hit them high. I thought it was a great penalty myself.

There is no such thing a as a bad penalty as long as it crosses the line.Best penalty ever- Sir Ralph v the Spuds 2002

you cant really 'nearly miss' can you?
if it goes in it goes in
commentaters are always on our back, if manure were winning 4-0 and they started to pass the ball around theyd say what a great performance and how brilliant they are.
if it was us winning 4-0 theyd be saying something like "can arsenal hang on to this lead" or "theyre starting to lose it a bit of pace in their play"

Commentators being anti-Arsenal. That's not really a surprise.

It WAS the perfect penalty - We all know that!

I thought he'd missed from where I was sitting. Not good for the nerves.

After seeing it on tv though I realised that there isn't a keeper in the world who would have saved it, so I'd say it was a fairly decent penalty.
