Chants Would Be A Fine Thing

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Won hospitality tickets to the pompy game. But would much rather have spent the money and sat at the back of the upper tier. No bastard sing's, shouts or moans. they bearly even cheer, just politly clap. One bloke even said.
" oh look, it sol campbell. Must be strange for him coming back to the emirates"

I plucked up the courage to shout at the ref once and the looks i got

Worst time at the Grove EVER!!!!!!!!!

Sorry just need to share my experience.
Understand you totally mate.

First post for me. Hello everyone & can I just say I f*cking love this club with a pride so scary, it scares me sometimes.

Anyway, I really miss the terraces, proper atmospheres, wild celbrations after goals, the tension between sets of fans. We'll never have those days again. It's over.

Today's reality is f*cking hard to take despite our lovely state of the art stadium.

Unless there is a way of congregating the fans who want to sing in the same area, we're fucked & I don't see how that's possible.
Our 'fans' who go to the Emirates are a pathetic embassment. Majority corporate or middle class families who turn up late, leave early & don't celebrate goals much more than a gentelman's clap & sing bugger all. A million miles from the local working class fan of the 70's/80's & further back.

At the Hull Villa match last week, there was less than 25,000 fans generating 10 times as much atmopshere as 60,000 do at the Emirates & I could hear watching on the Telly. Our only ever song is 'And its Arrse-nal, Arrrrrse-nalll FC...." & that only sounds loud-ish in the big games or when we've just scored.

The away support is better but still over-rated. Against the Chavs, y**s etc its ok but we barely sing when we go behind & quite a few away games you hear jack all..

Who here remembers the 87 Littlewoods semi final replay victory against the ****? The atmosphere that night was insane. That's what I miss. Perhaps going into the widerness for a few years (such as we were before GG ) will get rid of some of the c*nts who go to our games now & bring back more of the real working class fans. I wanna see us win trophies but what's the point of supporting something so souless. Going to Emirates is like going to a fucking baseball game.

Gooner till I die. She wore a yellow ribon
I agree with every word u have to say mate, but the only way working class people will go back to football games (espically at the arsenal) is to stop charging stupid money to go and watch at the moment an average team.

Example: yesterday i had to pay £70 along wiv alot of other people to go and watch the arsenal v west ham, fucking west ham who are hovering above the drop zone £70 to sit in the upper tier with a bunch of moaning, groaning, non-singing wankers.

Even worst the club are charging £50 to go and watch the 3rd round of the fa cup against a champoinship team, i think that is fucking disgraceful!!! We pay some of the highest prices in europe let alone england to watch like i say a very very average team, thats the only way 'proper' fans will return.

When the **** start to cry,
When they don’t qualify,
Blame lasagne,
When they think it’s a treat,
But it’s really dodgy meat,
Blame lasagne...

ok here is a chant for vela that me and my mate made up. please tell me what you think...

it goes to the tune of the mexican hat dance

here is a link to the tune - http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=mZimZYTwuDk

we kinda swapped the parts of the tune around cos it fitted the words better. anyway, here are the lyrics...

vela, vela, vela, the mexican wonder kid
vela, vela, vela, he said he would score and he did,
when he scores we will be singing cos the gooners will be winning,
this is only the beginning, of the mexican wonder kid VELA!

The Wonder Of You

Post by steveclark1960 »

I'm not sure why we have adopted Elvis, but always happy to sing along.

Just one request - get your mates and everybody around you to fill in the blanks......with 'O Ars e nal'

To explain. The Elvis impersonator in Area 31 last year (Area 31 - great idea, a bit like the old entertainment in the North-Bank bar, so what's happenned to it?) sang the musical chorus with llines of 'O Ars e nal', 'O Ars e nal'.........

It fits, but you can even add to that.

In between many of the lines as follows:
'O Ars e nal'
"And when you smile the world is brighter"
'O Ars e nal'
You touch my hand and i'm a king
'O Ars e nal'
Your kiss to me is worth a fortune

Difficult to explain, but why not make more of our new team son. Give it a try!

O Arse e nal!
