Wengers Replacment

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Wengers Replacment

Post by IW8Goalmachine »

we all know now that Mr Wenger is staying put for a few more seasons 'phew' but if he had of left who would be your personal fav to pick up where he left off?

for me it would be Guus Hiddink

If we were to go Foreign with no Arsenal connections i would go for Fabio Capello, he wins league titles everywhere he goes.

Mine would be Sven-Goran Eriksson  I know he wasn't popular with England but he did have a good record with them. he took us to three quarter-finals in three tornements in which we went out twice on penalty's, so not really his fault when it comes to those.
His club record speaks for its self:

1976: Degerfors (Assistant Coach)

1977-78: Degerfors (Coach)

1979-82: IFK Gothenburg
Swedish Cup Winners 1979
Swedish League Champions 1981
Swedish League Champions 1982
UEFA Cup Winners 1982

1982-84: SL Benfica
Portuguese League Champions 1983
Portuguese League Champions 1984
Portuguese Cup Winners 1983

1984-87: AS Roma
Italian Cup Winners 1986

1987-89: AC Fiorentina

1989-92: SL Benfica
Portuguese League Champions 1991

1992-97: Sampdoria UC
Italian Cup Winners 1994

1997-2000: SS Lazio
Italian Cup Winners 1998
Italian Super Cup Winners 1998
UEFA Cup Winners' Cup Winners 1999
UEFA Super Cup Winners 1999
Italian League Champions 2000

The only thing i would question is would he keep Arsenal playing one touch football ask me a year ago i would of said no but seeing how he has Man City playing he proberly would of.

Or do it the Arsenal way and give it to some unknown :D 8)

alot of people i spoke to think that Frank Rijkaard would be a good one but i dont think so. i know Barcelona almost play as good football as us almost but look at the team he has and was bought FOR him so i dont believe he is very good in the transfer market himsef

Ahh, I see. I thought he said he'd make his decision by the end of the month. Doesn't mean he'll stay but I have a feeling he will because they're talking and I think he'd like to see his "new" team develop and flourish rather than have someone else take credit.
