Copenhagen 1994 - Universal Football Tours

Copenhagen 1994 - Universal Football Tours

Post by Galasso »

Of the people who went to Copenhagen, did anyone out there go with a company called Universal Football Tours? I think they were the ones who becamse Sportops travel. The trip was to Copenhagen by ferry, coach via Hamburg!

Was reading EdgeofTown's report on the Prague game and it got me thinking of this great European trip. Still remember as we came into the city centre on the coach, a group of Parma fans started waving at the coach in a fans solidairity gesture. We were so touched that almost the enitre coach replied with v-signs!

I've never been there but with the stories of 94 (& 2000) it's sounds like such a good place to be
If i have the chance in life to go arcoss the world (for footballing reasons) then Copenhagen would def be one of the stadiums i vist

Galasso, that sounds like the trip I went on. Did you leave from Euston on a double deck coach?

That's it, from The George. I knew we were in for a good trip when we had to pull over just as we hit the A2 to Dover for someone to empty out the toilet cos it was overflowing already! We'd only been going about 40 mins.

Hamburg was the mutts nuts. Please tell me you visited the Reeperbahn. Cracking place.

Ferry over to Denmark resulted in a few cases of Faxe beers being purchased to honour John Jensen. Plotted up in Copenhagen near the Tivoli Gardens with hundreds of fellow Gooners and JJ even made an appearance at one point.

So many memories, probably 5 of the best days of my life, it was that good.

Good to hear....

One of the best football trips ever - which I can't believe since we were on the coach for so long!

I was fairly tanked up by the time we got back on to the coach at Calais. Remember one guy singing " there'll be no sleep to Hamburg, no sleep to Hamburg....there'll be no sleep to Hamburg" and five minutes later he was snoring away!

Hamburg was great - tried to play pool in a bar in the afternoon but we were thrown out - leftovers from 1988!! Reeperbahn - quality

Drinking till 6am, got back to that hotel, woken up at 7.30 for the coach to Denmark!

Superb before and after the game. One guy said he was in a club and he saw JJ dancing on a table - and he was injured!

Long trip home the next day - Made bearable (or unbearable) by someone putting on a porn video with JJ lookalike.

All-in-All - Quality.

Yep, totally agree. Quality.

We tried to recreate it when we went back for the Galatasary final, but that was just the total opposite. The whole atmosphere was different. The local Turks were only out for one thing. It kicked off everywhere.

Still, nothing will soil the memories of '94.

Good man.

Same here - 2000 couldn't have been worse all round. And in 1994, we liked galatasaray because they did manu that year!

And it's always almost impossible to recreate something like that - always fails.
