I am solidly in favour of replacing him, though as I said, I would not sell him if we could not replace him.Galasso wrote:Haha, yes, quartz is solidly in favour of selling the only player who remotely resembles Arsenal.QuartzGooner wrote:Don't get me started!
In good form at moment, but too erratic and an arrogant ego maniac.
That said, i would only sell him if we could replace him with a better player.![]()

I think we can get a faster, stronger and more consistent player than Van Persie, one who is less selfish and less of a hothead.

You could've made those criticisms about DB10 in his career, especially the earlier days, as far as consistency is concerned it's not yet conclusive whether he's been unlucky with injuries or is going to be blighted for the rest of his playing days, but there is no doubt that he has that touch of genius, and admittedly the impetuous streak that seems to be an unfortunate side-effect in all too many cases!
That was the reason however, why he only cost us 2M even tho van Basten labeled him "the best Dutch player of his generation" and he is learning to control his temper, even Ferguson had no hesitation in naming him the season before last as the Arsenal player he coveted most, so it's very possible that offloading him would prove to be a hasty decision

LETS RAPE THE CLUB SOME MORE THEY COULD PUT ALL THE KITCHENS IN THE FLATS FOR THE £15M THEY WOULD GET FOR HIM

but to be serious RVP has stepped up to the plate since Cesc has been out our player of the season for sure. Quartz i normally agree with your opinions but you are a bit left field on RVP mate.
Couldnt have said it better myself. Its bad enough the position we are in now, but if it wasnt for robin van persie we would be in a worse situation. If you ask me, robin is the best player we have at the moment, and dont forget he is our top goalscorer this season.Galasso wrote:Haha, yes, quartz is solidly in favour of selling the only player who remotely resembles Arsenal.QuartzGooner wrote:Don't get me started!

Robin Van Persie tonight as ever wanted to recieve the ball as much as possible and take a defender on at every oppertunity.
To contemplate selling a player who actually seems to want to play for the club such as Van Persie is silly, a higher work rate and more determined attitude from his teamates would surely see them linked with a wage increase in the same way as the dutchman.
R.V.P. is far from perfect however at least he is giving his all at a difficult time to be around the 1st team consistently.

I think RVP is a brilliant player. Always liked him, especially his mad streak. Has potential to be Jens-esque.
Those keepers need a good beating now and then to keep them in their place.
Selling him would be ridiculous. Even if he were replaced. Sure buy another striker, at least we'd have depth then.
And I think today showed why RVP is so important to us didn't it?
Couldn't in a million years imagine Greedy doing that. Not to save his life, or more importantly, his contract!

I don't think Quartz is saying "Sell RVP".
He's saying that if we could get in a better player or one of equal skill but one that we could rely on to play the majority of a season then he would take that player ahead of RVP.
So would I. But as I can't see us spending the type of money required to get in such a player it's a moot point really.
RVP has that touch of genius for sure. But he is a hothead and is prone to moments of real stupidity. He is also very unreliable and incredibly injury prone. Who here honestly doesn't skip a heart beat when he does that stupid knee slide goal celebration, fully expecting him to injure himself?? I know I do.
