Who is good enough in our squad?

Post by southwest clockender »

Coming back from the game last night and thinking of how shit we were and then thinking back to title winning sides of previous seasons l started thinking of our current crop who is good to have been in any of our title winning sides?

Frabregas for sure and RVP,Sagna and maybe Clichy(l know he's had some high profile clangers but you can't doubt his commitment) other than that i'm not so sure the rest would have.

We'd be hard pressed to have a team of superstars but players I'd deem good enough for starting 11 are:

Almunia
Clichy
Sagna
Nasri
Cesc
Theo
Rosicky
Eduardo
RvP
Adebayor

Players we should get shot of:

Eboue
Denilson
Song

Good enough for the squad:

Toure
Gallas
Bendtner

Hot prospects:

Wilshere
Ramsay
K Gibbs
Merida
J Simpson
Barazite

Youngsters to go:

Randall

Just off the top of my head ****!

Vela = Good enough

Also forgot to add Diaby to either the Go list or very bottom of squad list

I admit I had my doubts putting him there but until last night he was joint top goal scorer and does give us another dimension. It was difficult because I certainly wouldn't rate him as an impact sub. I think he just needs more around him, strikes me as one of those players that plays best when others around him are

Maybe demote him to the squad but was trying to be as realistic as possible as we couldnt afford a world class striker on top of the much more needed DM and CB

Couldn't see him cutting the mustard to be honest. I would hope that he could perform a miracle on Eboue though!!!!!

Personally I would think Moses would be the better option. At least he could part the opponents defence.

Ade is a lazy crunt. His performances has been pathetic this year. F*ck him. Sell him.

IMO the only players who would get near a "Classic Wenger" squad are:

RVP
Cesc
Walcott (as the young player)

That's it. Everyone else are either not good enough (Ade, Gallas, Bendtner) or still have too much to prove still (Vela, Eduardo, Rosiky, Nasri, Wilshere, Clichy, Sagna)

Keep:

Almunia
Clichy
Sagna
Djourou
Traore
Nasri
Cesc
Theo
Eduardo

Sell, IF we can replace with better:

Eboue
Song
Silvestre
Bendtner
RvP
Adebayor

One more season to prove their fitness/worth:

Toure
Denilson
Diaby
Rosicky

Hot prospects:

Vela
Wilshere
Ramsey
Gibbs
Merida
Coquelin
Simpson
Barazite

Youngsters we need to see more of to judge:

Randall
Emmanuel-Thomas
Frimpong
Fabianski
Gavin Hoyte
Lansbury
Ayling
Freeman
Eastmond
Norveit

Urgently needed purchases:

Tall aggressive centre back
Strong terrier like midfield ball winner
Experienced utility midfielder
Replacement for Bendtner, Adebayor and Van Persie IF suitable can be found.

I really feel for Denilson.

He's a back-up for Cesc. As is Ramsey & Diaby. It's not his fualt that he's played as a Defensive midfielder or as wide player.
If we had a DM he would actually be quite a decent replacment for Cesc but we never see that side as he always performing a defensive duty.

I'm really getting sick of Adebayor. Yes, he scored a lot of goals last season, but he missed an awful lot. As a squad, we created hundreds of chances last season so we could afford to miss 50% of them. Now we're not, so we need someone ruthless up front, not a shit lanky clown who still can't seem to get his head around the offside rule.

Very good point.

As poor as Denilson has been this season, I know that G88ner and myself have said that there have been enough signs over the last two seasons to not yet write off Denilson.
