Same old, same old at Goodison Park

Same old, same old at Goodison Park
Online Ed: Torture’s one word for it. Could Arsenal actually be getting worse the longer their unbeaten run continues?

"Somehow, despite consistently playing some of the worst football seen under Arsene Wenger, the team have gone on a run of nine Premier League games unbeaten."

I think it was Denilson not Song. Having said that they were both equally bad

Awful performance. And Arsene talking the same old b*llocks saying tremendous team spirit good character! We were truely awful, I believe worse than Stoke. The midfield bar Nasri is so inept its laughable.
We couldn't create chances against a team of long john silvers!
I'm getting fed up hearing the same old nonsense from Wenger.

What about bringing Eboue on as well. Your chasing a game surely its Bendtner and Vela, oh no trusty Eboue!!

P*ssed off and its getting to a stage where i am dreading the next game. What is going on!

Spot on Ed. No one can say we are not consistent at the moment. We have been consistently poor for all of the unbeaten games, except for the second half at Chelsea. It has been pure luck whether or not the opposition has scored or we have, a real sign of mid-table football. There is a desperate lack of quality in this team, mainly in the midfield, where any combination involving Eboue, Song, Denilson and Diaby is woeful in creating anything up front and in giving protection to the back four. One or at most two of them playing with top quality players is fine, but together... well, you have seen what they can do. Playing this way, we may edge past Cardiff, but I really fear for us in the two derbies coming up.

Ed, dont depress me by mentioning names like Pires, Bergkamp and Henry! I watched Bob Wilson meets... DB10 the other week, and I nearly wept when I seen some of the clips. It seems so long ago...!

Totally agree Ed, watching that game on the internet last night was torture. We were truely woeful. Bar Nasri the midfield is so inept of talent its laughable. And yet Wenger sprouts the same old shit about tremendous team spirit character and all that. Well I tell you this Wenger apart from Van Persie none of them looked like they gave a shit and its not surprising when they are all on such fat salaries and defended by you every game.

And what about bringing Eboue on! We were chasing a game so he brings Eboue on!! If you didn't laugh you would cry. Feel sorry for Vela.

West Ham next and sorry the way we are playing and the way they are playing a defeat could well be on the cards
Dreading Sat. A reoccuring feeling

:( We look like team with no direction,at times we were using the graham taylor handbook,no good when Adebayor couldn't get on the end of a queue let alone a pass.Other than Nasri our m/f are inept but at least our defence was solid and thank god RVP was outstanding again.Until the board come clean over finances,we got to compete in the transfer market just to get a couple of guys with title race know-how in doing so give confidence to the youngsters to be able to challenge seriously for honours.
Wenger must admit to have made a mistake with certain players and admit he got it wrong so in the summer have a GOOD clear out and obtain the 2/3 players required.

The team have been over-achieving lately with, depressingly, no hope in the near future of any change to this.

We don't seem to have much/any money to spend so I can't understand why we are still trying to buy Arshavin. If he is not going to be a bargain surely it would be better to forget about him and buy a DEFENSIVE MIDFIELD PLAYER !!!!!

Veloso would fit the bill at about the same price we were going to pay for Arshavin.

I wouldn't have minded Jimmy Bullard. A bit limited ability, but you know he is always going to give 100%, his enthusiasm would rub off on the team, he gives another option at free kicks and I think he would have made the step up playing for us well. Not a Wenger type player though ( he's English for a start ! )

Surely we'll play better against West Ham ?

Fair comment Ed. Last nights woeful performance was just another in a season that is turning into a nightmare. Barring RvP and Nasri the team are lacking any creativity whatsoever. In fact they now even seem to have trouble with simple passes. It is totally unacceptable and Wengers post-match comments just rub salt in the wound. What match was he watching? And what on earth was he doing when he brought on the hapless Eboue for the last 18 minutes? Vela, Ramsey and Gibbs were all on the bench and any of them would have been a far better bet. There cannot be many Premiership players having a worse season than Eboue and I can't for the life of me see what he contributes to the team. Sort it Arsene otherwise we can forget that fourth Champions League spot!

Yes it was another game without defeat but I still can't believe we're reduced to scrapping for 4th, especially when so many of our recent stars are still performing brilliantly - Henry, Pires etc.

Gooner Ed is right when he says that a wage bill of £100million a year is truly unbelievable for shite like Eboue, Bendtner & Song - players that will NEVER, NEVER, NEVER put us on a par with ManUre.

Reading the comments on Arsenal Chat; many, many supporters are losing patience with Arsene and the Board. Gooners are a very tolerant and patient bunch but I don't think we're going to keep paying top dollar to watch disinterested dross like The Chuckle Brothers (Eboue & Song). To me to you, to me to you!

I have a horrible feeling that we will hear booing again on Saturday if the performance and attitude doesn't improve.

If this persists and we do miss out on c/l spot and in the summer we not competive in the transfer market then i'm afraid some of our best players will be tempted to leave. It's just like a vicious circle when we have a run of success we lose our top players as we don't compete with top clubs in the transfers to continue our success!.In 1 blog i visited there put up a link to transferleague which gives us a run down of all transfer from 1992 to now and you be surprised at the outlook.
If this happens and we left with the average lot we got at the present it's fighting for uefa cup spot not c/l until some of the reserves are ready(which some look pretty good)and the move to the emirates, which was suppose to make us compete with top clubs ,would be waste. So Wenger in the summer have a good hard think and make us successful again.

www.transferleague.co.uk/ make your own conclusions?

If those transfer figures are correct then it does highlight what a good job Wenger has done over the years but it also highlights what a bad job has been done a board level given that we appear to be struggling financially despite a fantastic transfer policy (in monetary terms). Given the success we have had we should be amazingly rich.

A net spend per season less than Boro and Sunderland (who have both spent significant time out of the Prem) is an incredible stat.

i have been a season ticket holder for over 20 years and i use to go regularly before that and this team is the most unpassionate side i have ever witnessed. Even in George Graham days, when we lost it. Most of the players would still try 100% but at the moment i do not feel that they are doing that. The weaknesses in the team are obvious to all apart from the manager who still thinks we have a chance to win the league, yet we are more like mid table. Also if we have no money at the club let us know and not keep bullshitting us!! We pay for the dearest seats in the world and we are being short changed watching a bunch of players who good enough.
