Deadline day Arshavin saga

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Regardless of if he has signed now or not I cannot see him figuring in AW's plans for Sunday.

I hope so, i was a bit cynical in an earlier thread but if he comes in then i hope he goes on to be one the signings of the PL. Another reason i hope he has signed is that I don't want The Arsenal to look like we can't seal this deal

The deal is done just awaiting premier league to rubber stamp, we have already obtained a work permit and he will wear the number 23 and will be available to face the spuds on sunday.

Guys I aint so sure!!

the silence is defeaning here, the longer this drags on the more i think something has gone wrong/not been done

Furthermore, it is clear that we havent addressed the REAL issues in the window and while I am glad we have signed him (hopefully) we really needed a centre back, ball winner and arguably a goalie!!!

Just been listening to some english guy who has been watching arshavin for the past couple of seasons and he stated that he is the best player in russia by a mile. I am no longer cynical, i am going with the hype, he is going to be our new bergs and henry combined. I hope. anyway after listening to that guy and watching some of arshavins skills we are going to be in for a treat :D

Surely to christ if he has been in summer camp in dubai with zenit he will be fit enough to be on our bench and play for 30mins or so on sunday if he is needed ? :? I agree that we shouldnt expect him to come flying out of the traps or anything (although getting him into action while the weather is like this might help him aclimatise quicker   ) but I dont think it is unreasonable to expect him to be ready to play some part straight away - then again maybe I am just showing signs of desperation to get song and eboue out of the team 8)

Dont know if any of you watched the piece on ssn with "prince charlie" (nicholas for those of you too young  ) but in the interview he talked about how fans of celtic and rangers have started to stay away from matches and are complaining that if the players brought into their clubs are not as good and in turn the football on offer is inferior then why are the ticket prices not cheaper as a result and that is also a question asked on here of late too. Charlie as much as said that their fans are being taken for a ride by being asked to pay the same prices or more than what they used to pay when they were watching the likes of henrik larrson, brian laudrup, di canio, mc coist etc and that now there is no decent investment being made in their teams - it all sounded too familiar to our own situation to me anyway :(

by the way, while waching some of arshavins footage he beat 3/4 defenders turning them inside out, at one point he dropped a shoulder and even the trees in the background fell for it, anyway he beat all these defenders and stroked the ball towards the corner and it had goal written all over it until one of his team mates ran across the goal and stopped it going in :( At least he will feel at home stright away when he plays with bendtner :-P

20 hours since the window closed, and nothing's been announced. Something seems very odd. Failed medical? Bounced cheque?

He'll need at least a couple of weeks to pick up the essential Arsenal ingredients..... " desire and spirit "
