ARSHAVIN IS NOW OFFICIAL

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

there just was an interview with the agent that acted on Arsenal's behalf in this deal. Very interesting stuff:

- Arsenal ended up paying a fair amount more than they had hoped. Didn't reveal the figure, but probably around 15 million.
- Zenit were extremely difficult to deal with and did not appear to want to sell no matter what until the very last moment
- Arshavin at one point yesterday afternoon sat down on the floor with his head in his hands saying "this is not going to happen. they won't let me go. they won't let me go"
- all paperwork was faxed before 5 and he called it "a miracle"
- Arsenal went all out in order to secure the signing and were "extremely positive" in their negotiations
- he went out with Arshavin for a drink last night and Arshavin was so delighted about the move that he was wearing the Arsenal shirt the whole evening.

Basically just short of calling Zenit criminal *word censored*.

Just makes me want to tell all the moaners to fuck off. You have no clue what you're talking about. Just like with everything else you moan about with this club.

"I'm a Gunner. I'm happy to be at Arsenal," Arshavin said. "I like Arsenal's style. I like Arsene Wenger as a coach. I like some of the players from this team."

Can I just say for starters that I do not know what the hold up was in this deal or where the blame lies but for you to basically take the word of a man that is on the club payroll as gospel truth sums up where the board love fans like you. Would you bite the hand of the people that feed you and actually line your pockets ? Perhaps a reality check wouldnt go astray before telling people to fcuk off

I imagine Zenit being difficult was more them trying not to sell him cheaply more then anything. Still I'm pleased to have some much needed creativity in the side, would have liked an addition at dm though

Still we never pay money and we don't sign big players so expecting the transfer to come off any second now :-P

thank god you know better than the people involved.

Next time I'm in need for some insight I will send you a pm rather than to listen to the people that are involved.

Thanks.

agents are on comission not the clus payroll
everything the agent said (and the way he said it) seemed convincing to me

The Agent (I think it was Phil Smith) explained that there were difficulties contacting the Zenit directors.

One is a bigwig in Gazprom so was hard to get hold of on his mobile because he was so busy.

One was in hospital in Israel.

One was on business in Somalia!
