Jan transfer window!

I'd be very happy if they got rid of it.

Just make the summer one slightly longer (ie start it as soon as the season is finished and end it just before the new season starts).

While I'm delighted that we got Arshavin this bloody deal has been a big distraction for well over a month now. Something we could have easily done without imo.

Get rid of it.

Just have transfers allowed between end of season and 5pm on first Monday in March.

Good idea. That way, Sky Sports would still be allowed to have their countdown and their presenters would all still be able to feign hysterical excitement!

get rid!

1) its an annoying distraction.

2) the injury thing is the same for every team so everyone gets by with what they got. every manager has the summer to get a squad for the whole season and is then held accountable if it don't last the distance!

i'm with Arsene on this one, either get rid of it completely or just keep the market open all year

 Wouldn't make any difference how long the window was we would still be quibbling over 50p to the last minute.

As Spurs have shown when you want a player you just go and buy him it's not rocket science, they have done 5 deals in this window quicker than we could do 1.

go to the Arshavin has signed thread and look at what the agent involved in the deal had to say about how difficult it was.

We too could have signed 5 players in 10 minutes if we had no scruples of hopelessly overpaying for mediocre players.

Taking Spurs as a positive example for anything is just ridiculous.

If you think that buying back 3 players for 35 million that you sold less than a year before for 30 million is good business no one can help you.

:o I don't know what figures you have on those transfers but as far as i am aware they paid 6m more for Defoe than they sold him for and have bought Keane back for 8m less than they sold him for and since they only paid 3m for Chimbonda i doubt if they sold him for any less than that so that would mean overall they made money on those transactions.

It's irrelevant who they signed the point was they wanted players, they got them and they got them quick, no f*cking around trying to save tuppence. We spent all summer supposedly trying to buy players we needed, we failed, we spent this whole window trying to sign one player and still didn't get the players we needed, if we had of sorted ourselves out in the summer we'd have been in with a good chance of winning the league this year, instead we've just sacrificed another season because we wanted to barter over peanuts.
It's a bit rich any of us bitching about Spurs transfer policy at least they are showing some ambition if we had we'd of been in a far better position than we are now. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

ambition? surely you are having a laugh.

Let's have a look at how well they developed in the last few years:

2005/06 65 points
2006/07 60 points
2007/08 46 points
2008/09 38 points (pace)

2 managers sacked
Net spend 84.6 million pounds (gross 201.75 million pounds)

Desperation is the word, not ambition.

I find it incredible that anyone in their right mind would be even slightly jealous of Spurs. Ambition my arse.

as much as I despair about us sometimes especially in the transfer market I agree that we cant possibly use the spuds as a good example of that!!
