I totally agree that if rules are laid down then they should be for everyone. However some stewards will always be better than others. Most of the supervisors (gate) are spuds and therefore they hate you and some of the younger ones just have a chip on their shoulder. Saying that though some of the stewards are decent as long as you don't take the p**s.
If you smoke you are out, don't argue either as it is a criminal offence and that does go for the away supporters as well.

Yep we've decided to represent ourselves!
The majority of stewards try their best to ensure that the "experience" of watching Arsenal is as good for everybody as possible. If that means dealing with a few people who want to spoilt it for others then thats what we'll do!
One of us was in the upper tier above the Fulham fans & everyone was ok, until one guy stood up & started yelling abuse & gesturing to the away fans below. People around asked him to sot down & tone his language, but he refused. Only on the intervention of a steward did he calm down. After the game, a number of people made the comment that they had enjoyed the game, except for the actions of this one person. Should he have been left alone to do what he wanted & ruin it for those around him?
NO
As far as the away fans are concerned, those that cause trouble on their own will be & have been dealt with by the stewards, if a large group en masse want to cause trouble, that can only be dealt with by the Police, as they are there in sufficient numbers & are equipped & trained for that scenario.

So what if a bloke was swearing and making gestures at away fans?
What sort of rose tinted world do such fans living in? Do they also complain that farts don't smell like perfume?
Surely they should have been so engrossed in the game to be bothered at what some bellend was shouting at the away fans, as long as it wasn't racial or deeply offensive to particular groups.

Here's another stewarding farce for you all to mull over.
I was at the Man City game today. First half was the proverbial watching the grass grow, but I did at least get in at 10 to 3, (upper south end, over the away fans) so I put my banner up over the edge of the tier (ARSENAL in white with the old crest); and told the fellas sitting there, if the wind blows it around then just take it down. All fine, so far.
During the first half, I spotted one of the stewards take it down and walk off with it, so at the whistle, I asked him. "No banners allowed mate". "Huh?" I said, "it's not a (national) flag, it's got the crest on it?". "I don't make the rules", apparently.
Really couldn't be arsed to argue. "Can you go get it for us then, I'll put it under my seat". "I can't leave my post right now, I'll get it after the game". Spot the deliberate mistake.
This chump thinks that I should believe him when he tells me its club policy for no banners of any kind, Arsenal or whatever. I think he's a chump, and quite frankly if it wasn't for Cesc's marvellous goal, it would have soured my day. My brother made a comment to me at half time, "It's not your club". There's something in that.
