It was not the getting rid of those players that bothered me, (and in Flamini's case he left of his own accord).Bergkamp-Genius wrote:You should be thanking your lucky stars AW had the genius and foresight to get rid of Flamini, Diarra and Gilberto, if he hadn't we would have been in serious danger of winning some silverware this year and no one would have wanted that, would they, trust in Arsene, he knows.

It was not replacing them that was Wenger's error.

Denilson, Song and Eboue is legitimately the worst midfield combination I've ever seen at Arsenal.
I'd honestly prefer Hilliar, Selley and Carter.
Tangent: AW just doesn't sign 'intelligent' players anymore. Back in 03/04, the squad was full of intellectuals: Henry, Bergkamp, Pires, Vieira, Campbell, Ljungberg, Parlour, Lauren, Kanu, Wiltord, etc. Even though they were hardly Mastermind candidates, they were generally 'with it', and had a good football brain.
These days, he plays complete idiots: Song, Eboue, Denilson, Gilberto, Adebayor, Bendtner etc. - not the sharpest knives in the drawer (as the victims/viewers of Arsenal TV will attest). Off the pitch, their combined IQ is probably 2.5. They're just not intelligent folks, and it shows in their performances. It's not their lack of quality that insults me, it's their lack of intelligence (as witnessed by Eboue's ludicrous sending off at SHL). At least Vieira used to get sent off for properly slogging an opponent's kneecaps.
AW is an intelligent man (well, he used to be), and for his team to succeed, he needs intelligent human beings on the pitch. At the moment, he doesn't have them.

Not top class players, but not stupid.
Eboue has suspect on pitch temperament though.

song billong is a very very very very very very very very very very low-quality player...maybe he'll find space in Rubbish Team Starting XI and maybe you would confuse him whit bins for trash...but the wrong decision is taken always by the manager...continues to put him on the pitch...#27 is a better player than song billong, but if you call garbage, litter, refuse, rubbish, trash or waste the meaning is the same...they're FUC%ING SH!TTTT!!!!

It's becoming a tired argument, but he is still only 20/21 (I think) so all is not lost... but it's fair to say he should be nowhere near our first team at the moment.
Sell him or, if Wenger really has faith in him, loan him out to a Premier League club and let him develop there.
The Arsenal first team is no place to learn your trade, and should be set aside for top class players and outstanding young players like Cesc and Theo... NOT mediocre talents who may or may not be good enough!
Firstly we did loan him out to charlton and it hardly brought him up to required level did it ?
Secondly if he was going to make it he would have done so before now. Dont give me any flannel about his age cos as far as I am aware he is older than theo, denilson, vela and ramsey and is only a few months younger than djouru and there isnt 1 player in that list that I would pick him above. The game has changed a lot since the advent of the premiership and is now faster than ever but with that you see players making it into their 1st teams at a younger age. It is highly unusual that you will see an outfield player that has been based with his current club for the last 4 or 5 seasons but not establish himself until he hits the age of 22 unless of course the standards of his team has dropped so alarmingly that he can now make it(which of course applies to us

I was watching Song very closely yesterday (Don't ask me why), and I can honestly say that he is:-
1. Lazy
2. Tactically unaware
3. Unmotivated
I can see no point of him being in the team, I hate him, and would rather play with 10 than have him in our team.
It angers me to see ''players'' like him wearing our shirt. What Arsene see in him is getting beyond me.
His lack of tracking back, ''decision making' in passing and actually getting stuck in is totally missing.
I bet the Roma representatives, looking at this shambles were shitting theirselves.

this is a crucial point for the billongs'one...seems to me he is really unmotivated and i don't understand why...plays in startin XI and isn't good enough for him? i remember 4-4 draw against rubbish...he came into the pitch smiling and walk literally...never press anyone in midfield, always side useful pass...what he does in this Team/Club/Country/World? sorry, but he's fuc%ing SH!T!3. Unmotivated

Agree, Ben G, in fact, the most he moved was when he was finally hooked. I also thought that the kit man would have an easy job with his shirt. (I.E. spotless)
I know that generally that we have to always have a scapegoat, either Eboue, Song, Denilson. But these ''players'' are NOT good enough and they should be shipped out. PLEASE Arsene, if you are reading this, (and frankly he should be to keep his finger on the pulse) get rid of these ''players'' they sully our great name and tradition.

Mr.Wenger tries to find luck in some young players...this is his polithics to garantee economical stability to the Club...Great Deal...but i remeber the first flamini...he was a bloody nightmare in midfield...sometimes you got a normal guy put him in a premier league match and he can be man of the match, next match he turns back to his level and won't get a minute-play in glorious Romford United...but there's a limit to anything...mr.Wenger hasn't a real choice to supply to this good-to-nothing-camerun-born guy? i think YES he has...but nothing happens any others games...he's fuc%ing hell there whit his fuc%ing #17...But these ''players'' are NOT good enough and they should be shipped out.

At least those 3 had what AW would loosely desribe as "spirit". Hillier was one paced and very limited but his effort rate outstripped Song by 100 to 1. Graham would never have tolerated the attitude some of our present crop are displaying. We need some discipline back at this club

Song is terrible on many levels. He cannot pass a ball. He is lazy. He has no pace. He is cumbersome. He doesn't shoot. He has no vision. He is technically very poor and he appears not to give a flying fuck.
Two incidents (out of many) stood out for me yesterday. Now, allowed that the team as a whole did not play well and Song wasn't the only one whose passing was shite, but these two incidents really define him for me.
1. His "wonderful through pass" for RVP. It wasn't. Initially I thought what a beautiful weighted pass, fair play to the lad. But the replay showed that instead of playing the ball into space for RVP, Song actually tried to pass it straight through the Sunderland defender, it ricocheted off the defender's leg and landed in RVP's path. A terrible effort at passing. Again.
2. When Song and Denilson managed to lose the ball (again
) high up the pitch and Sunderland hit us on the break, it was Sagna (level with or slightly further up the pitch than Song) that bust his bollocks and covered the distance to get back and put in a great last ditch tackle (and probably earned us the point). Song jogged behind the play and then about 2 yards into our half he promptly just fucking gave up and stopped! Lazy wanker. You fucked up, you get back and try and help you cuntslop.
I know Song doesn't have the pace of Sagna or Cliche but he just gave up, couldn't be arsed. Now if supposedly Denilson is in there to fill Cesc's role (Don't make me laugh
) and Song is supposed to be the DM, how in sweet fuck can anyone justify him just not bothering?
Wenger needs to replace both Denilson and Song fast. Neither are good enough to fill any midfield role in the modern game. They have no vision, cannot complete even simple passes, don't shoot, cannot score, cannot tackle (in Song's case nearly every time he tries results in a free kick in a dangerous area) and they are both pressed into losing possession too easily.
This is the worst midfield I've ever seen at Arsenal in 35 or so years of following them...
