Arsenal & Fulham fans burn a Spurs shirt #1

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

The last season at highbury, stood at the bottom of St Thomas's, a few gooners were dragging a **** flag through mud, wiping their feet on it etc etc.

I ran over, lighter in hand, as others joined the fun. Just as we started setting light to the fucker, the old bill came over giving the old "Come on, put that out or blah blah blah"......

To a mate of mines eternal credit, his reply of "Come on copper, we only burning a **** flag, it aint like we're burning a ****!!" still makes me smile now!!!!

Get those lighters out boys!!!!!

If there is a next time, make sure someone chips in a couple of quid for Lighter Fluid, spray the shirt, hold it up and then set light to it, nice to see the badge burn!!

Yeah, course it does! A few lads having a laugh outside a pub after a few pints when the football's finished makes us just as bad as the Women and Kid beaters from down the road!! Yeah right!!

And OF COURSE it's childish, THAT'S EXACTLY what Football is. We all go to the same place month after month to watch 22 men kick a ball round a field while we sing songs, and we cry after bad defeats(Paris) and have the hump for days!!

Jeez, with Attitudes like that you should be applying for a stewards job...

Goonermc,

You're hardly comparing like with like!! I don't know about you but I don't consider going to watch football and supporting my team as childish!!

At least there is something to be gained out of going football (the feeling of belonging, loyalty, committment, entertainment, pride, joy on the good days and sadness/anger on the bad days etc.etc.) whereas what is achieved by burning a rival's shirt? And who exactly does it benefit? On that basis you could use the same excuse for any form of anti-social behaviour - because that's what it is!!

I repeat, it's time people that participated in that sort of CHILDISH behaviour grew up and got themselves a life!!

OK so burning another clubs shirt does not put you in the class of woman/child beaters etc.

But it is a bit CHAVVY.

Ok...so...I like fire...but that isn't the only reason I condone this activity...I just haven't thought of the other reason yet...

Where did you get the shirt from by the way?
