IS SONG THE WORSE MIDFIELDER EVER

Once again this just comes down to Wenger's pride and also loiyalty to a player he's brought to the club. If Wenger hands you a contract he's gonna stick with you, no matter how poor you perform, for a minimum of 2 or 3 seasons. Over the last 10 years I'd say Wenger's stubborness to keep players that are not premiership, never mind Arsenal, material has cost us at least 3 major throphies.

The general consensus on here is that song is shite but what can or should wenger do between here and the seasons end ? Should he move nasri inside alongside denilson with either theo/vela or eboue coming in on one wing with arshavin on the other ? Should he play ramsey in the centre midfield spot alongside denilson and not start fcuking about with our wingers ? Or should he consider putting somebody like djouru (who has played there before mind) in there as a defensive midfielder ? Personally I would go for sticking ramsey in there - yes he has had a couple of poor games but he is a young player that will improve given games (which is more than can be said for song  ) plus he can be assured that he will show commitment and will win a few tackles 8)

Might be woth a try but his lack of experience (and eagerness to impress) may see him eaten alive in there. Still, couldn't be worse than Song or Denilson even if he had only one leg...

Did anybody else think, like I did, that nasri played shockingly deep when moved into the middle ? At one stage he was literally sitting on our back 4 and given that we needed his craft and creativity further up the park I was baffled to say the least :?

We need cesc and the others back asap, because no matter how easy some of our next games look on paper, games are won and lost in midfield, and the likes of Fulham and Citeh have some decent seasoned pros in that area, and these could easily end up just as west ham and sunderland did. Both Song and Denilson are as useless as each other and it is their performances that are costing us points as much as our firing blanks up front. The back 4 finally seems to be doing ok and the much slated Almunia has in my opinion been our most consistent performer this season.

I am going to asssume a worst case scenario, and say that Cesc and Rosicky will not return for a while.

Theo..well reports suggest he IS nearer to returning.

Up front I would use Arshavin as a number ten, behind Eduardo or failing that behind RvP.

My midfield would therefore look like this.

NASRI------DENILSON-----DJOUROU-----THEO

I know Gus hates the idea of me mentioning Djourou in midfield, but he HAS to be worth a go, as Song is just an oaf, and we are in desperate trouble.

I am not at all keen on Gallas and Toure as a long term defensive partnership, but in card playing terms we need to "make the best of a bad hand".

Diaby, Wilshere and Ramsey to be on the bench as impact subs.

I prefer Song as a centre back, that way he don't need to try and do something usefull or clever with the ball, he just needs to win his challange and get rid of it.

He's not for me in MF although it is working with both him and Denilson sitting there because goals are not being conceded.

Agree, to say he is a good squad player is suggesting that he can adequately step into the team to cover for injuries and do a job. Which he plainly can't.

Why on earth would we play Djourou in midfield when we've got what i think, is a perfectly good Defensive Midfielder in Kolo Toure playing at Centre Half?! Would we not be better off playing players in there natural positions where possible. I find it completely baffling that playing Toure as holding midfielder with Djourou replacing him at centre half has not been experimented with. Completely baffling.

It is not that I disagree with you as such but you are actually disagreeing with yourself there mate - you are stating that wenger should play players in their natural positions but are still advocating play kolo in midfield and refer to it as an experiment :? For what it is worth djouru has played midfield before and while he would be centre back in my preferred 1st 11 I still do not see the sense in disrupting the back line which has now settled down and are keeping clean sheets
