Fickle fans are not supporters

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

The author makes some perfectly valid points but as usual with the “support everyone in an arsenal shirtâ€

I agree with both points of view: it is totally counterproductive to boo the team you support but it is not unreasonable for the paying fans to demand at least some commitment from the team.

The true fan will "support the team evermore" regardless, but that does not mean we should be taken for suckers. By the way, I've just finished watching our youth team stuff the Spuds 3-1 at SHL after being a goal down in 5 mins: skill, commitment and 2 goals in the last 5 minutes to seal the win. That's why I'm a Gooner and always will be! :barscarf:

PS Arsene: in the unlikely event you read this - the guy is amazing; please give him a chance in the first team.

Watch out Villa...

very well put skooner.what worries me most about the last few years is we are quite happy to come 4th each season and not try to compete for silverware.to me i do not mind not winning a cup every season but i cannot stand us not competing in every match we play.we turn up for every game we play and i think it is our right to expect the team to do the same.seeing players going through the motions is not acceptable.win ,lose, or draw i want to see 100% effort.

Well put avenellgooner

The reason so many fans are angry is the target for our club now is a 4th place finish. And Wenger with his lack of spending and team selection (Song and Eboue) shows the board and him are content with that.Everyone said at the start of the season we lack a commanding CH and a DM but Wenger failed to correct that.
This team can beat Man Utd and Chelsea but fail to beat Hull and Stoke that tells you there is something seriousley wrong with the whole set up of our squad

I also think the point that we have been worse than this in the past also slightly misses the point. I thought the whole point of moving to the Emirates and the legacy of the Wenger era is that we are now and should always be a top club. Wenger has done the hard part, he has made Arsenal a world brand, world class facilities have been delivered and we pay great money.

To drop back into the pack now would be criminal given everything that has happened in recent time. The hard work has been done and the supporters dont want it to be be undone.

Do the majority of people honestly think that this team is now far away from being a real top class side???? We're maybe one, or two at the most, players away from having a side that will over the next number of years be challenging for all the top honours.

Wenger has done an amazing job. Next season we will be unstoppable. The boo boys will not be heard then. They'll be singing the teams praises.... well maybe not singing but whispering!

I agree with Henryetta - 4th is now more of a possibility and we cannot really judge Wenger's team until Cesc, Theo, Eddie and Tomas return - assuming the latter ever does...

If anything what the injuries have shown is that we actually very only a couple of departures away from just being a very ordinary team. If Cesc and RVP leave in the summer and Wenger decideds to replace them with yet more youngsters I simply can't see us getting anywhere near the likes of United. Before the Villa game on boxing day I looked at the 2 line ups and asked who from our team would get into theirs and I could only honestly come up with 2 players on the current form and that was Sagna and RVP!

There is no doubt there is huge talent with a number of players in the squad but for the majority the attitude simply isnt there to be consistently successful.
