Where the hell is vela quartz ?? :o In my opinion vela has to start - the only way he is going to improve is to get him regular games so I would play him up top with eduardo. Likewise I would play wilshire on the left instead of nasri as it is a home game and it would be easier to do so at the grove than it would if we were away. Again personally I would play ramsey in the middle of the park instead of either denilson or diaby although I aint sure which one I would drop :?

Its interesting to see all the speculation about who is going to take the front six places. Now we are getting people back we are going to have a super abundance of attacking options, so hopefully no need to play Eboue. When (if there's a miracle) everone is fit, we will have 16 players for 6 spots.

What is unbelievable in all this though is the lack of the DM we have all been shouting for, with the only "options" being Song, Diaby and Denilson. And according to the club Song is a defender!

The squad is seriously unbalanced with too many attack minded players who will not get a game, and therefore gt pissed off, while players like Song and Denilson will be played every game.

I think this may be the key to our season though, cos in cup games you might just get the luck and be able to blitz our opponents. We have a fantastic oportunity in the FA Cup with all the remaining games at home or on neutral grounds, so lets go all out and win this 6-2 and hammer Hull in 10 days time. :barscarf: :barscarf:

I agree 100% with you there chippy but the thing that really concerns me is that seeing as vela and ramsey have got fcuk all playing time even with all those injuries how will they get a game when everybody is back fit again ? Wenger talks about his young players but when it comes down to it he has been, in my opinion at least, very very slow to blood them into the team and these players joined us in the belief that wenger gives young players a chance quicker than anybody else  Ramsey in particular must be asking himself about his standing in the squad if he cant get a game in a misfiring midfield and especially cant get a game ahead of alex fcuking song   :x Questions have been asked before about wengers belief in vela and that worries me cos I think the boy could be top quality if he is given the chance

I don't think RVP was rested at West Brom so that he can play in the FA Cup.... more likely he'll be on the bench again, being saved for Roma.

Eduardo needs matches under his belt so I'd expect him to start, and I don't think Wenger would want Walcott to play against Roma in his first game back from injury, so I'd expect him to start as well.

I’d half expect Nasri to be on the bench seeing as with Arshavin cup-tied for Roma & Walcott only just coming back it may be even more important to make sure Nasri’s fit for next Wed - especially if we’re planning to play 4-5-1 again vs. Roma with Nasri behind RVP, which I expect we will.

Diaby may be wrapped up in cotton wool as well seeing as he was such a big part of dominating Roma’s midfield & seems incapable of playing 2 games in a row.

Wouldn’t be surprised if RVP starts. I expected him to be rested in earlier rounds & he’s played. I think we may go for a 4-4-2/4-2-3-1 with Arshavin behind the striker & a front 6 of :

--------------------RVP/Eduardo--------------------

Vela-----------------Arshavin----------------Walcott

--------------Ramsey---------Denilson--------------

With Walcott & maybe Vela coming off after a hour for Bendtner & Eboue in wide positions ( ) seeing as we may well play that way on Wed, same as in the first leg.

Augie, for once I have to disaggree with you.

Apart from one decent Beer Cup performance I have not seen anything that has hugely impressed me.

True he hasn't been given too much time on the park but in the games he has stared awat from the Carling Cup I cannot remember anything that has really impressed me. I cannot think of any real impact he has had on the game.

I agree that the kid has talent but to me he is simply not ready for Premiership football. It may well be that he is being played wide rather than upfront but it is generally accepted that playing wide is less demanding on a young player than up top as a striker.

At a similar age I think Theo is twice the player but again ths may well be down to more time on the pitch and as part of the squad.

More worrying to me is Ramsey's lack of time considering our central midfileds lack of inspiration. I know against Cardif he was poor but the occasion obviously got to him.

We will never have another Viera but I do believe that Ramsey has a huge future and could be the strong midfielder we have craved since Paddy left. I hated the prick but he has been compared to a young Bryan Robson and if he can get anywhere near him as a player we will have a real gem on our hands.

I would like to see both players start tomorrow against inferior northern scum as they have the class to deal with them.

Gus, I would and have been the first one to say that vela's performances lately in those cameo appearances have been poor to say the least but I do believe that you have hit the nail on the head when you refer to his lack of game time. I think that it also shouldnt be forgotten that only last season we the Gooner faithful were asking serious questions about the ability of theo walcott and if he would ever make it in the game as he seemed unable to lift his head and pick out a pass or even cross the bloody ball  Now he is viewed as a vital player for club (and maybe country even ?) and whether that is down to the fact that we have such a poor team right now and the other options on the right wing are poor (to say the least  ) or if it is down to a massive improvement in the young man is up for debate but personally I feel that he has improved and I believe that actually playing first team games has been a significant part in that improvement 8)

We'll take the Russians in the semi and then piss on Fergie's parade in the final in May.

In light of your question about Vela, I think Vela maybe on the bench instead of Merida or Walcott (who having just returned to training may not be risked this game or even Roma game, we simply do not know how fit he is?).

If Vela plays I would like to see him up front as opposed to on the wing.
I think his fast feet and impressive speed over short distances are more suited to a striker's role than a winger, and he has looked much better as a striker than a winger when playing for us.

I will not draw a conclusion as to whether Vela is god enough for us or not this season, as it is his first season in the UK and it is fair to start judging him from middle of next season.

I will not 100% write off any player under 23, though having said that I have doubts as to whether Bendtner should play for us and would happily sell him in the summer.

I am not at all concerned with Ramsey's lack of playing time.

He is 17, and Wenger has stated he is deliberately rationing him so as not to gain stress fissures in the bones in the way Fowler and Owen did by playing too much too young.
I think he will be a decent player in future in a midfield creative role, and also as a Number 10.

Wilshere played against Spurs in youth cup on Thursday, so I doubt he would be available for more than a brief sub appearance.
