Red Action Section
Last night the Red Action group had a valiant attempt to improve the atmosphere at the Emirates. I wish I could have sat down there instead of my seat in Block 132 with hundreds of muppets whose main aim was to moan and criticise Arsenal and then leave fifteen minutes before the end of the match. If half of the Upper Tier showed the same passion and enthusiasm as the Red Action lot, then we would have something akin to a decent atmosphere at the Emirates. Well done the Red Action Group! Just so you all know you looked pretty impressive from my viewpoint!

RedAction was great last night. I was sitting block 2 west lower and tried my hardest to get everyone round me to sing but i'm now going to call block 2 'Silent 2' because we was so quiet.
While RedAction was singing "We are the North Bank" and "We are the Clock End" some bloke near me shouted "shut up" i was shocked why would you want the Grove to be in silence? it's strikes me as wierd.
If only the Grove was full of RedAction would make it a great place!
Love it guys, keep it up.

I've got to give it to them that they done well last night & my voice wasn't the same after singing North Bank etc
The only way te fans can improve is to not have all the singers in just one corner
For example at Highbury it was Clock End v North Bank with the singing now it's just themselves in the corner which is a pitty
There was one song that the South stand sung last night & it was to do with Tottenham
As muich as i love that corner i want the whole stadium (nearly) to sing esp the lower tiers the only thing the fans need to do is sing together rather than one ear hole hearing anti tottenham & the other a Arsenal song
I know we're not Liverpool but they all sing YNWA rather than just the Kop end so why can't we sing Arsenal songs all the time on matchdays esp the night ones?
Even i hear all the Spurs sing Martin Jol's ........................... & we have the best manager in the world who should be sung for at least 5-10 mins in each game without stopage lol
There's still a long before the Grove is home & hopefulley everyone has really found there place by now, i have in block 10

I had to watch the game on TV as I can't go to any midweek games. Watching it in the pub you can't really get a feel of the atmosphere when the damn Goat is playing Britney Spears over the commentary. What were Red Action doing?
At one point I saw a load of fellas with scarves around their necks - is this what you are talking about? Scarves aloft?
How's Elvis getting along? Is it catching on yet?
I unfortunately won't be there again this season as I'm going traveling for a year. My cousin is delighted though because he has my season ticket

What the Red Action Group were doing was a lot of bouncing around, scraves aloft or just raised a la Anfield style. I was just thinking what that would look like if 60,000 of us had a go! They were also making a fairly consistent noise with chants and songs but, let's face it, when half the stadium leaves 15 mins before the end, it's a losing battle. And the Victoria Line was not closed down at 22.00 on Wed - it was deliberately kept open so I don't know what excuse people have to offer for leaving so early.

I previously had an article on this site saying that I don't know what everyone is so fussed about it, that people want to watch the game, and that our atmosphere is as good as elsewhere.
I need to have a re-think. I sat in the Upper tier against City and was shocked by the silence around me. The view was fantastic, but no-one was singing, no-one even shouting encouraging comments, or derogatory ones for that matter. It didn't feel like a football match at all. I took my girlfriend who's trying to get into football, and I think she was really disappointed too. I took her to Blackburn and we'd enjoyed a really good atmosphere, and she could see how involving it was. I hate the highbury library tag, but this really was a library area of the stadium. I tried my very best throughout to sing through the silence, and encourage those around me to do likewise.
I was back to the lower tier for the Prague match, and it was so much more comfortable to be in with proper supporters. The redaction section was fantastic as well, the whole stadium was watching it and thinking that looks fun, wish I was there. I'm not going to slam the silent supporters, and I think the guy that posted earlier saying that we need vocal supporters to be spread around is right. There's always going to be supporters who start chants, and those that go along with it. If we keep all the more vocal members together, it leaves the rest of the stadium unable to catch on. I genuinely think the rest of the stadium wants to be involved in the atmosphere, and the spectacle, it just doesn't know how. Many of these supporters are new to the game, and even the idea of being able to let your hair down, and speak your mind at a football match, is alien to them.

I think 'Proper Fans' is a bit harsh!!!!!
Remind me does proper fan mean shouting, swearing, singing???
I sit in West Upper and i sing my heart out every game and of course it would be great if more people sang up!! But because i sit in the upper tier does that mean i'm not a 'proper fan'??
I'm sorry for the rant but i get annoyed when people make assuptions based on where people sit in the stadium!!!

The lower teir deffinatly has more active fans. But thats maybe because their closer to the action.
RedAction are always trying hard to create a good atmosphere and its about time the rest of the ground started joining in. I get tired of people telling me to sit down. Why don't they just stand up? I payed my 20 quid i wanna be able to support my team. Vocally.
It really is an attitude problem. those people who are just their for a day trip in london and thought 'it would be nice to view a football game' need to either get involved or just F*ck off.
To be honest tho, this is a problem with the premier league as most grounds have a poor atmosphere at the moment. I blame Sky and setanta, because it leads to fixtures at awquard times, instead of the normal saturday 3pm Ko. It means that allot of good, loyal, vocal Arsenal fans can sit at home and watch the game for a minute price compared to our ticket prices!
Sorry my rant is over

I was in Block 19 next to the away fans on Wednesday (all 30 of them). having been in the legendary Red Action corner at the weekend against City, I was positively miserable against Sparta. I tried to start some singing on several occasions, and was met with stonecold silence, and an accusation that I was drunk. Looking across to the opposite corner, I was green with envy, there was clearly one hell of a party going on, as there always is.
Clearly from this forum there are more fans like me who want to stand and shout all match, but we're so spread out among people who can't be arsed we end up silenced too. Only solution is to lobby the club for either another singing section, or an expansion of the existing one. Let's get the ball rolling folks

THE CLUB WON'T LISTEN!! I DOUBT THEY WOULD ALLOW SOMETHING AS STRAIGHT-FORWARD AS A LARGER/WHOLE SINGING/STANDING END, EVEN THOUGH IT WOULD OBVIOUSLY BE OF BENEFIT TO BOTH THE FANS AND THE PLAYERS
AS USUAL, THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE FORESIGHT WHEN PLANNING THE NEW STADIUM TO ALLOW MORE SPACE FOR THOSE THAT WANTED TO SING AND IMPROVE THE ATMOSPHERE. INDEED, WE WERE LUCKY TO GET THE SMALL BLOCK CURRENTLY USED BY REDACTION.
AS I HAVE SAID ELSEWHERE, I E-MAILED REDACTION A SHORT WHILE BACK TO FIND OUT WHY WE COULDN'T HAVE A 'CLOCK-END' SECTION NEAR THE AWAY SUPPORTERS - LIKE AT HIGHBURY - AND WAS TOLD THAT THE AUTHORITIES/POLICE WOULDN'T ALLOW IT FOR SAFETY REASONS.

North bank upper where I sit is pretty good, not as loud as the red section although it's getting close to that right up at the top.
most of the people around me aren't particularly vocal but they're mainly old guys who clearly used to do more of that kind of thing back in the day. so they don't look at you funny if you want to sing, the views are Excellent too. I suppose i'm very lucky with where i sit.
