As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
Which Gooner would not be delighted with the win! Of course winning matters! BUT let's be honest: we were fragile at the back and weak in midfield. Bendtner was too often a rabbit in the headlights and van P must do something about his right foot... I wondered why on earth we didn't use Song who had a blinder last weekend. The Beast was an overweight pussy cat but Totti showed his class throughout even with an almost useless leg. To quote the Prof: 'I believe' ... that we could have nicked it with Song on - and Walcott/Eduardo on the pitch 15 minutes earlier. Roma were obviously tiring and our combined speeds might have done it. BUT we did go through. How we need Fab for the future rounds! That performance won't get us through the FA semi-final or the next round of the CL but I'm grinning - for now.
They were also very lucky that Adebayor, Fabregas and Rosicky were not fit and that both Eduardo and Walcott are still a fair way off being fully fit. That will change.
I think we were very lucky that we didnt have greedybarndoor! the longer he stay out the better!
Eduardo to replace the money grabbing self proclaimed 'one of the best players in world footbal' (excuse me while i piss myself laughing)
Strange isnt it when Chelsea were grinding out results under Mourinho with boring but winning football we took the moral high ground because we were playing wonderful football. Now we are playing awful football its OK its the result that counts.Very strange
I think we are allowed ONE game where all that matters is the result. I don't think yesterday's standard of play would see too many sell-out crowds (ha-ha) at the Grove? But for now - like with the 2005 Cup Final - who cares? Priceless
