What would you do boys and girls?!?!
When you say he is now offering £80-or-quits, I take it that means he will pay out £80 to you if we reach the Final if you take him up on this, and "forget" the earlier £50?

Let's assume that £50 is now lost, so if you don't take him up on the bet, you'll have to pay this out if or when it loses.

What is on offer now is that you are being asked to risk another £30 to get £80 paid out for a profit of £50. Those are odds of 5/3 (2.67) for us to reach final, whereas the bookies at the moment will give 6/4 (2.50) on the same thing, that's £75 payout for £45 profit.

So, even though it's an extra fiver, your mate isn't exactly offering you a opportunity! We also have to get past Hull first which is part of the bet, and the bookies will adjust the odds further down assuming we pass that hurdle. Once we do - and we will have home advantage - the odds on us to progress will be more like a pick'em, so that £30 might return you £60 in total at the bookies.

So my advice is - if you're mate's still up for exactly the same offer after the Hull game, take it, you will be getting the better of it, so for now just sit tight 8)

And if he does take you up on it then.. keep him close in future

Sounds a good idea - maybe i'll lighten up a bit

Anyway, I can't pick my own nose when it comes to football betting at the moment, so the above is just from the odds perspective, nothing about whether will win or not. I've had much more luck this week guessing horses at Cheltenham then i've had in the last month on anything else, says a lot about the value of my opininion

I would def take him up on the bet if I were you but maybe it is easy for me to say that as it is your money on the line here

Seriously though I do believe that if we get buy hull we will turn them over at wembley. I didnt go for all this malarky that our name is on the cup this season but funnily enough I am now more confident than I was which is puzzling seeing as we were sooo shit in rome tues night. Maybe it is down to the fact that theo is back, cesc is almost back, eduardo is back(then gone again then back then gone again  ) and rosicky is almost back(yeah right     ) and I believe that will raise the spirits of the players as much as anything else. I also like the way the cup draw fell - I think if we drew manure in the semi we would lose but I would be confident of doing them in the final :?

Sorry to disappoint you Sir Denis but after all of your hard work you have interpreted the bet wrong!!! If we assume that Chelsea finish above us then I'm down 50 notes. What he's saying is that if we get through then I can either cough up the 50 or roll it on to the Semi and if we beat them then I don't owe him anything but if they win then the 50 goes up to 80!!

Over to you Ms Vorderman!!!

Well, that's exactly the scenario that I described, looking at the mathematics of the bet!!

Perhaps both you and your mate might be better off betting with the Bank of Sir Dennis in future, I would gladly have you onboard!
