I have been critical of Song this season, bit today he was my MotM.Yankee_Gooner_Dandee wrote:Alex Song has looked fucking GREAT his last few games. I mean great tackles, great forward runs, great passes and vision. If he could play like that all the time then he would be the answer we are looking for.
Blackburn could easily have got back into the game whilst Bendtner kept missing. The clean sheet was invaluable and mainly down to Song, Denilson and Toure.
Kolo is looking more like his old self and for us that can only be good.
Theo a one trick pony,C"mon augie.Theo adds an extra dimension to our game with his pace.Today for the first time in months a premiership defence was actually SCARED of our atack. Why because of Theo"s pace.Since his injury we have had Eboue playing out wide right and defences have loved that.Today there was a threat everytime we attackedaugie wrote:To be fair to bedtner (and I aint a fan of his) I thought that he was excellent in the 1st half but those 4 gilt edge chances ruined him and at the end of the day putting the ball in the net is his job - feel sorry for him though![]()
I have said it before and I will say it again but arshavin's vision is streets ahead of anybody else in the team and in the 1st half with his back to goal his vision and pass to put theo through (when he could have had a pen from warnocks tackle) was outstandingHow that horton clown said that he expected more from him is beyond me

I thought that denilson ran the midfield today - am I alone in thinking that ? Kolo was outstanding at the back and the 2 full backs defended well also. Djouru (a player I rate highly) is very jittery looking of late and that is a worry. Have to say that at times theo does look very much a one trick pony and allows defenders to brush him off the ball and ran him into corners all too easily![]()
Finally I cant finish without a word about the c**t known as diouf - many of you are well aware that almunia is not my favourite player ever() but the tackle on him today was a disgrace
Again I have said it before and I will say it again but I miss the days when team-mates look after their own - imo one of almunia's team-mates should have "sorted" diouf out on a 50/50 ball just to mark his card. Some will say that line of thought is outdated but imo giving each other hugs and kisses before the match(
) is all well and good but it is on the pitch during a match that teams should show their solidarity and let c**ts like fat sam know that the days of kicking us over the park are gone
Fair play to almunia for attempting to create a chance for himself to sort out diouf (like lehman at corners really wasnt it ?
) and I loved the way he kept pointing to the tunnel to let diouf know that he would sort it out with him in there after the game

On Bendtner any half decent striker would have scored 4 today. He just isnt premiership quality.

Think Nasri’s 2nd half performance has been slightly underrated (understandably) next to Shava & Theo’s more eye-catching ones. Brilliant goal aside I didn’t think there was all that much else between Nasri & Arshavin & I can see them linking up well cos they’re both intelligent players.
Shava is pure class, and to think we haven’t seen anything even close to his potential yet. A team/squad with the intelligence of him, Cesc, Nasri & Eduardo along with the more raw, maverick skills that Theo & RVP bring to the table & we might be a team to fear again! As long as we can finally bring in Francois ‘Ardbasteurd to play alongside Cesc in the summer.
Denilson & Song both had pretty good games today
(2 in a row for Song!
) & fair play to them for it but we all know they’re not the long-term answer. If they can play close to that level the rest of this season though we’ve got a chance.
Think the crowd should get some credit too, heard “super Nicâ€

Donaldo I totally agree with you that the pace to our game yesterday made a huge difference and there is no doubt that theo in particular brings that in abundance to the table
That said how many times did you see him take a defender one on one and expect him to cruise by them only to be brushed off the ball or sheparded into a cul de sac ? At the moment it seems that theo's greatest threat is when we play a ball behind the full back for him to run into and he needs to work on other aspects to his game to make himself less predictable but there is no doubt that the potential is there.
I also agree with you re bedtner when you say that he aint premiership quality
All I was saying, in his defense, was that he worked his nuts off in the 1st half in particular and that the fast tempo of our game works a bit better with him than it does with rvp

I also agree with you re bedtner when you say that he aint premiership quality

Augie you are right about RVP.I have said all along he is not a team player and plays for RVP FC. But this season with the Eduardo injury,Bendtner not good enough and the absolutely shite Greedybayor RVP has been our only striker and without him we wouldnt even still have a chance to finish fourth.I know you agree with me on this i wish Vela had got the chance Bendtner has had this season

Haven't read the thread so dunno if this has been said yet but for me the best part of the game yesterday was after Bendtner missed another chance, the home fans (where the away usualy sit) starting singing for Van Perise then the fans at the other end started the "Super Niklas Bendtner" song which then spread down that whole end, Bendtner turned round and clapped the fans as it was nice to see as you could imagine that it meant alot to him.
Sometimes its too easy to whinge and hard to support, those in that block should be proud of themselves, well done.

I was listening to Stan Collymore on talk sport after the game driving home and the bloke is a complete and utter knob. He didnt talk about the way we played or anything he just spoke about the so called barrage of abuse at Bendtner, now of course there are going to be groans and frustration after 5 missed chances but his misses aside i thought he had a very very good game, created the first goal with a wonderful turn and through ball to Theo, he put himself about won plenty of aerial challenges BUT he did miss those chances.
Even after the 4th missed chance his name was being sung in support and i dont know about everyone else but i was singing in support, he was having an off day in front of goal, it happens, nobody was complaining when he was lethal at West Brom away, its all about confidence for strikers. When he was subbed off there was a standing ovation from where i was sitting and i was clapping his performance not cheering because he was being subbed off! I thought he had a decent game yesterday but he missed the killer instinct whis is required from a striker.
