Villarreal Away £72 tickets!!

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

should not chief exec be making representations and how about the club subsidising our tickets.

presumably villareal will argue not long ago £48 did=72 euro so blame the government.
Radford suggest that the spanish are not paying that amount themselves :banghead: :banghead:

here's the response from my uefa contact -

It is covered under Article 19, para 3 of the Safety and Security Regulations

http://www.uefa.com/newsfiles/551778.pdf

I think that the procedure is that uefa look into it if the club ask us to (it has happened before).

i looked it up and it says in the relevant section - Unless the associations or clubs concerned agree otherwise, the price of tickets for supporters of the visiting team must not exceed the price paid for tickets of a comparable category that are sold to supporters of the home team.

so are villarreal charging their own fans in the opposite corner 80 euros plus? frankly i doubt it. time to bombard arsenal with requests that they ask uefa to investigate.

start here -

http://www.arsenal.com/the-club/contact-directory

go down and click on 'online supporters centre'

next up press on 'other'

then 'complaints'

there's a form to fill in. state you do not believe that villarreal are charging their own supporters the same price for the equivalent view and know that the club can take the issue up with uefa. ask them to do so on your behalf.

of course it would be nice to know what villarreal are charging their fans in the opposite corner but i have an issue of the gooner to get to press!

someone else can do that research.

well this is what ive sent:
I wrote:Is the £72 price for ticket consistent with the prices that home fans will be expected to pay for the game? On top of travel and accomodation costs, the ridiculous price for a SINGLE match ticket means i WILL NOT be travelling to spain to lend my support for the team. Surely the club can see how £72 for a match ticket is unbelievable and borderline extortion?

Article 19 of the UEFA Safety and Security Regulations (2006) states that: 'Unless the associations or clubs concerned agree otherwise, the price of tickets
for supporters of the visiting team must not exceed the price paid for tickets of a
comparable category that are sold to supporters of the home team.'

if arsenal fc have indeed agreed that there is parity between the away ticket price and the home ticket prices then i feel this is unacceptable on the part of a club i hold so dear.

regards
i never actually intended to travel but the point has to be made!

It is outrageous. I went in 2006 and it was superb. I think it was £36 for the ticket and that was a semi-final 2nd leg. I have complained to the club. I think Villareal should be ashamed of themselves. Unfortunatley as a result of this extortion i will not be able to attend. I am gutted especially after a very pleasant trip to Rome.

just looked at the villarreal website - http://www.villarrealcf.es/ - and it doesn't appear that they have any news about ticket pricing. convenient.

however, quality wallpaper -

gooner ed.

the price did not come as a total shock to me because i vaguely recall muppets complaining about the price in the group stage. i am sure read about tickets being as much as 100 euros but i could be wrong.

while waiting for the announcement from arsenal i checked out villareal`s official website. maybe its me being a bit thick but i could see nothing about ticket sales for the game or indeed any future villareal game.

what galls me is the way the box office buffoons announce the price without even a word of regret to arsenal fans. it would have been nice if the club said it was upset about the prices and was launching a protest or offered any explanation. a nice geture would have been to limit its charges to us to 50 euro and subsidise the balance bu no chance of that happening.

i agree everyone should bombard the club with letters of protest
