I really do think that half the triuble is the Ade has got a bit big for his red boots already....like he has made it already!
When he first came I thought he was a breath of fresh air as his work rate combined with style made him different to what we already had. The Henty channel had come predictable and he offered am option.
Now I'm not so sure! There is far to often no end product and he sometimes seems to languid and care free.....like Kanu after he has been round IHH's house for a smoke if you please!
Now can we also please forget this long ball shit! Anyone who knows anything about football understands physical prescence up front does not mean we should let out centre backs pump balls into high altitude at any given oppurtunity! Those days are long gone with the exception of Bolton and Fat Sam! The game is about movement with coming short and laying off relacing going long and flicking on! Anyhow 90% of centre halves in the Premier are better in the air than Ade!
The guy has talent but whether that talent will make him a 15 to 20 goals a season Arsenal centre forward I am not sure!
If you have the number 9 or in this case 25 on your back you will be ultimately judged on goals!

I'm a fan of Ade, think he needs to work on finishing which he acknoldges and needs far better a final ball then he showed against Pompey but this week will prove useful in getting him fully fit so hopefully we will see the Ade of last season but with goals.
I don't mind Ade, but for me he doesn't show enough to get into the first team. He fights for the ball which is something i like in a striker.
At the weekend he was very frustrating to watch. He lacked pace on the ball and his passing was shite! I lost count of the times he lost the ball!
He had a quiet game - but then again I thought RVP did too!
I dont know how some of you can say he isnt skillful though! That is complete nonsense!!!

The main problem with Abebayor is that he is such a poor finisher.Yes he runs his heart out but his job at the end of the day is to score goals. When he plays there is a tendancy to go route one which is not our style of play.Bendtner really impressed in pre season and v Fulham when he came on but now he seems to have gone to the bottom of the pecking order. Also judging on the two performances v Man City and Pompey the partnership of RVP and Ade is not working.Ade looks knackered after 50mins of every game. Why does he keep chasing after balls he has no chance of getting.Save some energy for christ sake.
My choice of strikers would be RVP and Eduardo with Bendtner and Ade on the bench

But is Eduardo looking too much like RvP style wise? (on current showing).donaldo wrote:The main problem with Abebayor is that he is such a poor finisher.Yes he runs his heart out but his job at the end of the day is to score goals. Striking partnerships should also be considered as being important.
Forgive if I'm wrong, but is not Adebayor's partnership with RvP relatively young?
But not if he and RvP don't work well as a partnership.donaldo wrote:I believe the big difference between Eduardo and Ade is finishing.Eduardo is a proven goalscorer(maybe not at this level yet).Eduardo may not do as much running as Ade but i would bet on him to score more goals. And thats what makes a good striker.......GOALS
Example:
Do Gerrard and Lampard work?

Im not sure how i feel about adebayor - at first i thought he was fucking shit cos of the amount of easy chances he missed, but then he certainly came into his own last season - the main reason i like him now is because last season in big games when we needed someone to stand tall, he did i.e. manure away, spuds home and away (league), chelsea away.
He certainly isnt a natural goalscorer, but i think he adds something to the team - he is strong, and i beleive he is extremely skillful and good at holding the ball up, and brings other people into the game. The only problems are his ego, his composure/goals (altho his penalty was pretty cooly dispatched), and his consistency - too many times near the end of last season he drifted in and out of form - i hoping this season he will prove his critics wrong cos it would be nice to think he can do it for us. I willing to give him the benefit of the doubt so far this season cos he has been injured and isnt fully 100% 'match fit' and yes against city he was a bag of *****.
As for the chanting, i quite like it - its good we sing, and the problem with chants is you need them to be short sweet and straight to the point i.e. "ADE-BAY-OR", "we've got cesc fabregas" "Robin Van Persie!" otherwise fans dont really sing em.
Lets give the big man a chance, i think he likes it here and really wants to play for us and get us singing his name - if its for his own ego, fair enough as long as he's doing a job

[quote="WengerKnows"]i agree 1e is good enough to be a starting eleven .
Ade has scored a few important goals for us last season but to be honest with the amount of chances we created prcatically anyone could have put a few in . i was hopeing that Ade would develop into a Drogba but sadly it seems a pipe dream . I think its time to give our other 2 strikers a chance to show what they can do .
Glad you mentioned Drogba, Ade start at Arsenal is not dissimalar to Drogbas start at the chavs he took a while to settle, and last season took the prem by storm, lets hope Ade can do the same.

It does definitely sound cliché, but I think that's a fair summary. He fluffs a lot of easy chances and gives the ball away quite a bit (he does...I've kept a very watchful eye on him in recent games
) but he's doing the business at the moment so I can't complain about his recent form.
He still hasn't totally won me over but with that said, I get the feeling that even if he scored 50 goals this season, I'd still be going on about the 250 easy chances that he missed
