anyone remember when denilson started a game and the PA announcer didn't know what to say?

maybe just the number get read out and we say the names, or would that be too much like bingo?

i dont think its as bad as everyone else makes out - the idea is to get everyone chanting an to increase the atmospere, but at the same time there is something rather tacky about it - at least the club are trying to help the atmospere.
Like TS im pretty sure its a german thing - i remember Munich's PA announcer using it against us when we lsot 3-1 in the CL, and for me it worked well, the crowd were roaring anfd getting behind the team - maybe its cos it was in german it sounded good.
Maybe we jsut need a decent announcer rather than someone who sounds like he should be doing a punch and judy show

Munich has a wonderful support & often they use banners etc
I found a couple of photos & this sort of thing would look cool at the grove
The only banner that was used for the fans to wave up which the club gave to them was the east stand saying no to racism

This shit has to stop. I havent met or spoken to one Arsenal fan who approves. Fair play to REDaction they do a great job but it doesn't work and never will. I've already taken stick from other fans for it and it is pretty embarrasing. I mean, what can I say back? How do you defend that Yanky WWF shit? It's definitely a big thing in Germany - I saw it when I saw us lose 3-0 to Schalke a few years ago. I thought it was very embarrassing and, in Germany, just a little bit disturbing (visions of Nuremburg rallies etc). Not fair on Germans I know, but their unity in shouting the surname was just a bit too good.

It's crap and embarrassing for us to be doing it, there's no doubt on that. However, the announcer (is it still the same guy with the crap Jonathan Creek hairdo?) at least seems better at foreign names.
