I'm with donaldo on this one - cesc cannot be impressed with the decline of our club over the last few seasons and the total lack of ambition shown. I have always maintained that he will be off in the summer but I hate the way the notw tries to fabricate a dressing room rift as a reason for this departure. I would nearly bet me life that barca didnt get this rag to run this story cos I believe that it originates from somewhere in the hull area

What's most worrying is that if Cesc did want to bail then he has a excuse now.

I think he was always gonna go sooner rather than later. This won't influence him at all. The serious drop in the quality of our playing staff will, though... :(

Maybe I’m deluded but I’m pretty confident Cesc will be here next season - unless we somehow f*ck up 4th place. With the WC at the end of next season I’m sure that’s gonna play some part in his decision & I cant see him getting ahead of Xavi & Iniesta too often in that Barca side just yet whereas at least with us he’s guaranteed to play.

Plus Arshavin has added genuine Cesc-level quality to the team which should neutralize the Eboue-factor. Now if we could just clone a Maradona/Puskas/di Stefano hybrid then maybe, just maybe, we could neutralize the Song-factor too!

Agree it is possible he'll be here next season but really can't see him here after WC. Worst part is, no matter what, we have a long horrible summer of press speculation and lies ahead of us. Again... :banghead:

And with no international tournament & pages to fill it'll be even worse!

Dont worry though, I'd hasten to bet that Wenger's working on a plan as we speak to distract them all by spending millions upon millions* on bringing new players in to the club!

The drop in level is over discussed for me, Arshavin, Rosicky, Van Persie, Nasri, Gallas, Sagna, Clichy are all at his level for me (kids coming through getting games are at every club) he's not been pulling up trees himself this season so if he is developing an arrogant streak then maybe he should fuck off.

He will be off in the summer, and he won't be the only one, and if we fail to secure clge football nesxt season then we won't be able to replace them with any sort of quality. Make no mistake there could be very troubled times ahead.

bit of an overreaction but i am sure there are still plenty of quality players who want to come to The Arsenal, plus we don't have a bad squad now, losing cesc is not that big a deal imo.
Although he is a good player he still lacks enough goals from midfield considering his role. I think Diaby could replace him there with more goals and with a little better passing and releasing the ball at the correct time could develop to be a very very good central midfielder, he is very quick too so can go past players, something cesc cant do.

Wouldn't it just be easier to get Cesc into more goalscoring positions

Each to their own and all but I have to say… WOW!   Amazing opinion.

Cesc brings so much more than just goals & the ability to go past players. He dictates the game in a way Diaby could never even dream of doing! The only strings I'd be confident of Diaby pulling would be his hamstrings!

Not to mention when Cesc had the right midfield partner last season (Flamini) he was staring to add goals to his game!
