top 4? never in doubt.

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I think we can get third. If they lose two games and we win all ours we get third :barscarf:

4th is a given...Villa who?

Please stop this. We have to go to Anfield and OT as well as entertaining the chavs at THOF. We also have to worry about a couple of cup competitions. While after today's game Villa entertain the likes of Hull, Boro and the barcodes.

Third, are you mad? The only difficult game the Chavs have is us!

Somewhat agree Chippy but ManUre will absolutely 110% HAVE to beat Villa today or they're fucked big time that'll leave them 6 points adrift with a goal difference that could very well be as much as 20 worse off than ours after today so in effect we'll be 7 points clear and getting stronger while Villa's morale is in the toilet, they look drained, they rode their luck to stay there as long as they did and their inexperience particularly at this stage of the season is beginning to show probably much in the way ours did last year!

Also while we do have a scary lookin run in the pressures pretty much off us and I reckon our players are actually lookin forward to those big games toward the end of the season while the other 3 definitely are not, as they are well aware that we are possibly right now the most dangerous team in the league and will probably decide the eventual destination of the title :barscarf:

Villa's next game is also against Everton who will be only 1 point behind them should they beat Wigan today, so while I understand your caution following more than our fair share of heartbreak I think that now we've caught and overtaken Villa there is no way back for them as they will undoubtably also drop points against those teams who you mentioned who will be fighting for their very lives!

Don't get me wrong, I think we will finish 4th but it is by no means a done deal. If Villa get a point today that will boost their confidence no end. Remember Manure are under pressure too with half the team missing. Our run in is packed with big games every 3 days while Villa only have the League to worry about.

All I am saying is, don't tempt fate, don't count your chickens and other clichy  you can think of.

its a bad time when we celebrate 4th
villa have self destructed in recent weeks which has give to us a chance but while 4th is the minimum we require it is still a bad season league wise that we are not up higher and going for the title :banghead:

Totally agree Rebel

Some stupid Gooners are now trying to say because we look like finishing 4th its a good season.Sadly some fans are easily pleased. In the league we have gone BACKWARDS this season. There are 4 big teams in the country and we are the 4th best that is the truth

In fairness donaldo, while I agree with you and rebel re: this season being a failure, the reaction of some is understandable.

I think its more relief than anything else because as most on here would agree, this season might (should?? ) have turned out much worse than it has.

We can still win it :|

Ok, maybe not, but we can beat anyone on our day - beat Chavs, Manks and Mousers, we should finish second :barscarf:

finishing 4th wouldn't be a good season. Actually, finishing 3rd having been in the title fight until the last few games isn't a good season either - as we've seen last year.

Finishing 4th and winning a trophy would be a good season though. Especially if you've completely turned your performances around in the league too.

We're still fighting for 2 trophies and that's why people are finally back to getting positive about this team again. Most people finally realise that this team is not shit, as you like to believe. It's almost as if some of you you are hurting because the players are starting to show why Wenger put his trust in them, going on our longest unbeaten run since the invincibles season and threatening in the cup competitions.

Let's get one thing out of the way - we absolutely have not secured 4th place yet and we have not won anything yet. But we put ourselves in a good position to do so and we could be in for a great finish to the season.

And if getting excited about that prospect makes one "stupid" then so fucking be it. Personally, I'd rather be "stupid" than not being able to enjoy every game as it comes because I have an agenda against certain players that I believe aren't good enough, having to do everything in my power to downplay their contribution in fear I might have been wrong and all my whinging and moaning was "stupid".
