away games

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Yes the stadium was good quite steep which is a good thing as its easier for people behind to see. Prices were good as well £2.70 for a pint and a season ticket for £250  and they could still get into the Uefa cup. Makes you want to live up there

Shame about the shit crowds, shit area, all the locals supporting Man U, and Football playing second fiddle to an awful bastardisation of Rugby ;)

Right so next away game is Liverpool. One of the few grounds where away allocation is tight but as its a weekday evening...prawn sandwich brigade may be out in force?!?

Questions:

Who is going
Where are you drinking before/after the game
Where are you staying? (if you are that is)
Where in Anfield you sitting?

shimmy21 would like to apologise for mentioning the term "sitting" as he will be standing up in his yellow away kit with Rocky printed on the back giving them scousers hell!

It seemed to be only the middle part of the stand that was sitting from about the tenth row back. Therefore the guys in the 11th row were sitting for the whole game, and wouldn't have been able to see! Why not stand?

This confuses me as much as the crowd at home games, who stand all the way through half time and before the game. They then sit down staright away when the game starts and remind you to do so asap. If you like to sit so much, why not do so during half time and before the game as well.

good trip though, not as much as of shithole as I thought it would be.

I sit in the family enclosure so I understand the need to sit down but at away games you should stand the majourity of fans where I was on saturday were standing.

Wigan is not as much of a shithole but some little pikey threw a rock at the coach I was on. (he was in a liverpool kit typical scouser)

Great day... we arrived early as no traffic (also no traffic on way home). In the red robin prior to k.o., sitting in the sun sinking a cold beer. good seats (right where ade and song danced - as franksav stated in earlier comment) Didn't get told to sit down and sung throughout!!!

If only had done HT/FT bet which i was going to instead of 4 nil!

Liverpool Away going by coach with the Arsenal.

The problem I think is that when away games go to a general sale, you get a lot of nouveau football types who fancy going to watch us. With the smaller allocations or more glamorous matches, we get the hardcore loyal brigade who know the ropes, know the songs and know the culture of watching us on the road. Where I was on Saturday, there were a load of us standing, most singing and encouraging but also a number of those ones that seem to have arrived in a football stand by mistake and look like they can't wait till half-time so they can go home to BBC 4 and the evening ballet show.

How did you get no traffic on the way home  it took the coach a good 45 mins (first half of the Stoke game) just to get to the motorway.

It did take us about 15mins to get onto the motorway but we parked about a 10 min walk from the ground so suppose we got ahead of a lot of the traffic which came from the massive car park by the ground.
