Glasgow Rangers to feature in the Emirates Cup

I think this is a bit unfair, the events in Manchester had many contributing factors, and the trouble was not from the people in the ground itself. Lessons were learned and I think that it would be good to have the skirt wearers at the Grove

I think the Met will have the last say about whether they're allowed to play, can't see them allowing it meself, would certainly make for a lively weekend tho

Will be good to play them like we used to back in the 60's, but as others have said cant see old bill allowing this. Would be good to give the sweaties are sound thrashing on the pitch.

I went to one of the pre season "friendlies" with Rangers in the 60's.

Their supporters thought it was great fun to lob their empty whisky bottles at the Northbank roof and shower people with broken glass.

If Rangers come to the Grove there will be trouble kicking off for miles around the ground. Just like the Manchester episode.

Scummy fans, "The **** of Glasgow".

What happened to attracting "big names" like Inter, Real etc? Rangers are a UEFA club, it would be like bringing Everton to a "big" friendly.

That’s what I was wondering. Only thing I can think of is that Rangers would be guaranteed to bring a big support (quite possibly not even far off 8-10,000  ) which obviously helps guarantee sell-outs both days.

But I’m not sure why we’d need to do that. Both days pretty much sold out last summer didn’t they?

The twat-to-non-twat ratio in their support is probably higher than just about any other club in the UK (including the Totts   ) so the thought of 1000s of them coming down for a weekend long bender in the sun & minimal segregation just seems stupid.

Maybe it’s so we can play against a team that’s at the same stage of pre-season as us (or even more advanced) rather than one only just back in training, to give us a proper workout before we have to play a Spanish/Italian team in the CL qualifier? But the talent-less fuckers will most likely just try & kick us off the park.
