As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

All I can say to those people, unfortunately including Wenger, that quote stats about Denilson's apparent success at passing and tackling is "arrange a trip to spec-savers!!" I don't give a feck what the statistics say and would rather trust what I see with my own eyes. And I'm telling you, the lad can't tackle for toffee, can't play attacking passes and gives the ball away far too easily and much too often!!
IHH, you don't seriously expect a Fabregas type domination from Denilson do you? If so you must have less hair now than you started off with in August.
After only watching 4 games of Denilson it is very clear how limited he is as a footballer. By lowering expections of him you might find he does a better job than you realise.
I feel he was by far our second best player today, especially first half. There are so many more people to shoulder blame than Denilson, fair enough he'll never be the player we need but out there today he can hold his head higher than most.
Er No!! And trust me Number 5, my expectations of Denilson could hardly be lower!! Agree that the lad is limited but disagree totally that he was our second best player today. He might have played up to his ability in your eyes, but it wasn't good enough today and whether that will ever be good enough for the majority of fans (although I accept you're also not his biggest fan) and for a club with our supposed aspirations is highly debateable.
IHH, I've got to ask for names now. Who that played, according to their ability, was better than Denilson?
I count Toure.
Eboue, Silvestre, and Fabianski weren't great.
Fabregas was poor, Diaby shocking, Walcott limited.
RvP in flashes showed his class, Adebayor lumoxed around.
That only leaves Gibbs as better and ok the boy did well but out of 11 players I certainly find 9 worse than Denilson today.
In a one off game, I can't come down too hard on him. Other's needed to pull weight tonight, they didn't. Denilson's game is not now and never will be to drag the team to victory. There are many other better skilled and better payed players to do that.
I agree with most of that assessment Number 5 and that most if not all of the players didn't play to their ability. The difference is that I would have included Denilson in the 'poor performance' category and Cesc as below par because at least he occasionally found one of our players with a pass.
Having said that, in terms of the others Gibbs, Toure, Walcott and RVP were certainly better than Denilson in my opinion, and amongst the midfielders that played today he was the second worst, behind Diaby who I agree was absolute pants.
Yes, the better players who should have stepped up went missing today, but I think that partly had something to do with the formation Wenger put out.

That comment is all that needs to be said about today. Perfect.
Certainly not Denilson's fault. I love a good scapegoat who isn't a top player but sadly Denilson can't be held accountable, that's just not fair. He was accountable as Fabreags but there is no Fab slagging thread, nor would I expect there to be, as I've stated before the better players get my full backing even after a poor performance. But it's just too easy to give Denilson a bad rep when he sure as shit didn't deserve it.
Hell I've even read Song would have won the game for us today? WTF
I'm certainly not holding Denilson accountable for today's defeat. To do so would be unfair. That responsibility lies primarily with Wenger and the players that underperformed. It's just that, aside from the fact that I don't think he is ultimately good enough - which I gather you are in agreement with - I felt Denilson was among the (admittedly long) list of players that also didn't play well. You obviously don't agree.
Predominatly the responsibility of the team is to attack. We are an attacking team after all. Looking at Denilson today, he layed the ball off to Fabregas every time he was available in an attempt to get the forward momentum going. If Fab wasnt around he looked for another, not to make it all himself, but to a supposed better attacking player.
I know I'm not wrong here, the poor bloke couldn't win. Others have to take the blame, it wasn't his fault.
I must say though, it's great to be talking to a guy who's idea I can appriciate.

You say Denilson gave the ball all the time to other more attacking players then why play him instead of Song? Song would give more defencive cover and can do that same job as Denilson.

spot on... so true.. he coulda made things so diff... now these poor lads gotta get blamed. why play denilson/ diaby when song/ arshavin are better picks. damn.

Mate, drink a pint of water, then ask your self the same question. Then e-mail it to Arsene Wenger, not me, I don't pick the team. If I did we'd be in the FA Cup Final tonight.

Number 5, I am not a mean person, but if you think Denilson was the second best player today, you are Blind. THIS GUY IS A CRUNT, MY new TARGET MAN...WATCH the highlight again, how many balls he lost today which gave Chelsea a counter-attack (well Cesc was shit today as well)...I will never ever clap for DENILSON. HE NEEDS TO GO NOW. SO AS DIABY

Hey wlchuccc, how was the trip back to Birmingham tonight? Get a decent curry did you?

Please don't leave your self so easily open to ridicule. Ill let it go this time, next time I will have to punish you.

I have no mood to fire war with you. DENILSON is worse than Shite, and Cesc had the worst performance I have seen for him in the last 4 years.

Wlchucc, it's all you man. You say how shit Denislon was and how shit Fabregas was. I'm not going to point out the contradicton in that. Clap for one and not the other.
Well you could see the result after having reserve defenders, but playing with Denilson so long was the worst decension ever and Diaby. We had to win this game to every price, we have to get some trophies, but letting Diaby and Denilson play instead of Nasri or Arsha? Wenger is not a game-coach as Hiddink or Mourinho, sometime he is just too naive. Otherwise I think Eboue did the best job today if you look at how bad our defence was,
Please buy an italian defender when the summer comes. damn what I miss vieira, gerrard and lampard shit on theirselves everytime they came near him

You are the new Arsenal fan. Come on you Genners?
We all know what Cesc can do, but for Denilson, I have my full reservation. What's wrong with that?! I said Cesc had a bad game today, but we know Cesc is a decent player. Denilson doesn't deserve to wear the RED shirt in my opinion, OK

No not ok.
If we all know what Cesc can do and what Denilson can't why are you so surprised?
Did you expect more from Denilson today than Cesc? I doubt it highly. Cesc carries the hopes and future of this club on his shoulders, Denilson does not. You cannot be surprised if Denislon doesn't deliver he's not supposed to.
Have some balls and get on Fabregas back tonight, if you dare. I'm sure many will back you up but for fuck sake get on it either way.
