Summer clear out

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

IMO, Fabanski, not good enough even as a number 2, Silvestre, too slow, distribution terrible, (Ferguson rarely gets it wrong does he?), Diaby, to long waiting for his potential to bear fruit, to injury prone, to likely to lose possession in vital areas, (especially our penalty area), Denilson, the most unskillful Brazilian in the history of football. Adebayor, greedy, lazy (please go now.)

In addition to the above, I can also see Senderos going (Wenger obviously doesn't rate him which is why he was sent packing and loaned to Milan) and also Traore (because of the emergence of Gibbs)
Come on frank they'll all be here next year and a few more youngsters for the carling cup games.

I know Sid, I posted this before 6am and was still extremely hungover... (still feel like shit now, would have been far, far worse if we'd won the fucker though)

Silvestre and Denilson I agree are not good enough for our team and should be gone. However, I think Diaby is a good player and will shine with some more time and playing in the right role. Eboue is a pretty good cover for both RB and RM so he is definatley worth keeping. Fabianski...the jury is still out on him. Bendtner, i personally dont like him but I can see that he has true talent and hopefully it will come through in the next season or two.

But yeah, Denilson is absolutley awful. So awful infact I cant even describe it more than that. Silvestre is just old and slow and cant pass, so see ya.

EBOUE. COWARD RVP. BIG TIME CHARLIE . DIABY, NEVER FIT. FABIANSKI. AWFULL, DENNILSON. SLOW AND PREDICTABLE . ADE BA BA. DROGBA SHOWED HIM WAT A REAL STRIKER IS YESTERDAY. GET FUKIN RID OF THEM. THE ONLY REASON THEY ARE STILL AT ARSENAL IS WENGER HATES TO BE PROVED WRONG AND WE ARE PAYING FOR IT. CHELSEA SHOWED THEM UP FOR WAT THEY ARE

WE DONT NEED TO SELL, WE NEED TO BUY.

I ALWAYS WORRY WHEN WE SELL ANY PLAYER DUE TO THE FACT THEY ARE RARELY REPLACED WITH THE SAME OR BETTER QUALITY.

I heard on telly recently Arsene rated Everton's Jack Rodwell very highly, so he could be a Summer target.

There has been some real garbage spoke in this thread, there is absolutely no need for a summer clear out, that would make the last few years of building this team an absolute waste of time wouldnt it!

The amount of people that think we need to get rid of Denilson is amazing, he has improved massively as the season has gone on, think he will be great for us, remember how young he still is, he is developing nicely, why do people keep going on about how he is the most un-brazilian player they have seen? what does that mean? do you think he should score 4 50 yard volleys every game?

The one thing and in my opinion only thing that needs addressing in the summer is the centre back situation as we get done so many times by this frailty, the rest of it is fine, we have great options up front with Van Persie, Adebayor, Eduardo, Bendtner, Vela, they are all class players, aided by the attacking threats of Arshavin, Nasri and Walcott we are so dangerous going forward and all these players are still young!

Midfield is fine and developing nicely, Denilson and Fabregas are fine, and Alex Song is in the form of his life and seems to be getting better and better all the time now, the only one causing me a few problems is Diaby, he is just so inconsistent and not sure if this will change, still willing to give him more time to prove himself though!

Full backs are both quality and we have good cover both sides in Gibbs and Eboue, happy with both keppers too, its just the centre back situation, get a top centre half in and i will be well pleased and then feel we can really push forward as for all the brilliant attacking play we can provide there will always be that problem at the back holding us back, just one long ball towards the heart of our defence can completely change the game, as it has done several times!

but to say we need a shake up after losing to one of the best teams in the world is a massive knee jerk reaction and everyone has gone way over the top, lets look to tomorrow and giving Liverpool a decent game up there!!

Why do you bother coming on here, mate? Seriously, all you seem to do is slate other people's posts? Why not actually contribute some more informed oppinions? Give some reasons why you disagree? Of course you don't have to, but most people will just disregard your posts if all you do is slag others off...

None of the young players should go. The people suggesting that will look rather silly in a years time (hopefully already in a months time).

I think we need to have a look at some defensive players though. Gallas and Toure don't get on with each other and perhaps it's time for one of them to go. It's a difficult choice, since they are both excellent centre backs. Silvestre going would also be logical, either replaced by Senderos or a new player.

Basically, 2 out 2 in. Still unsure whether there's a need for another midfielder, at the moment I would tend to say no. Up front we're set. Unless Wenger wants to get rid of Adebayor.

Other than that we may cut our losses on Bischoff, Traore and a few other reserve players (Randall, Simpson etc.) and bring Merida and Barazite into the first team alongside Gibbs and Hoyte.

Fabianski had a poor game yesterday, granted but does that mean we should sell him..NO. he's played some very good games for us this year and will come back stronger for what happened.

selling players on the basis of a bad game is ridiculous. Diaby is another who was shocking, but he too is young and will improve.

Personally I don't think we should be selling anyone, and be looking to buy instead. Velloso is on his way...
Absolutely silly thing to say. People expressing opinions that you don't happen to agree with makes them a "new" fan? Idiotic and childish.

Alot of what is being written here is knee jerk reaction based on disapointment but also much of it holds true. Taking Diaby as an example, you say;

"selling players on the basis of a bad game is ridiculous. Diaby is another who was shocking, but he too is young and will improve."

Diaby has been poor since his return from injury. He's had one or two decent games but mostly he's been poor. That is not a judgement based on one or two games, that is based on a couple of seasons of poor performances. If he hasn't improved yet, how do you know he will? How long should we wait?

For the record; been a Gooner since the early 1970's, spent a mint going to games over the years, including fuck-me-sideways-expensive European games, so please - none of the "new fan" bollocks...
