empty promises
Every year Wenger says we will do well, we have the right balance of players, so where are the tropheys??? Its all very well getting to semi's or even finals, but then we choke or a bad first team is picked (like yesterdays shambles), heck we can't even be consistent in the PL, we are lucky to be coming 4th. Since I can't see us winning again MU in the CL, its gonna be another bare year and I am fed up with no silverwear in the cupboard. Time Wenger started to buy some descent players especially as I can see many leaving this year.

The majority of Gooners on here said at the start of the season we would finish 4th some said 5th or even 6th.And 4th place is how it will turn out.If we the fans can see that why cant our 4 million pound a year manager not see it? It is obivious to any fan where we needed strengthening but Wenger didnt sign them players. If you lose the likes of Flamini,Gilberto and Diarra in the space of 6 months surely you sign a like for like replacement.
We all know Wenger is not going to change so how do we expect things to change on the pitch?
4th place again next season?put your money on it

So you don't think the following are decent:redandwhite wrote:Every year Wenger says we will do well, we have the right balance of players, so where are the tropheys??? Arshavin, Nasri, Sagna, Eduardo
all signed in the last 2 years

Yes and lets not forget those other quality additions Fabianski, Bischoff and Silvestrebarnetgooner wrote:So you don't think the following are decent:redandwhite wrote:Every year Wenger says we will do well, we have the right balance of players, so where are the tropheys??? I don’t have all that much of a problem with the players Wenger’s bought in the last few years, the problem has been more about the players he hasn’t! Whether that was down to lack of funds, lack of a CEO to finalise deals, Wenger’s over-cautiousness re: money or an unjustified belief in the players already at the club who knows!
But when he has got the chequebook out then pound for pound (see what I did there?
) he’s been as good as any manager in recent years.
And after yesterday it still almost pains me to pay that man a compliment!

Re: empty promises
total cost about 5 quid.... (and it's far too early to write off Fabianski; granted he should be our 3rd choice GK at this stage but he is about 8 years off his peak as a keeper)SteveO 35 wrote:

Fergie, the Chavs and especially Benitez have bought a lot more rubbish in recent years and spent a lot more on duds, it's just they have more money to waste
Re: empty promises
Its not all about the transfer fees, its about the spiralling wage bill on average players. Would rather have 18 of top grade than 35 second ratebarnetgooner wrote:total cost about 5 quid.... I agree we are paying some less-than-worldclass players too much overall, that's a fair point, but in response to the original post, AW has been buying quality in the transfer market and hasn't wasted very much on rubbishSteveO 35 wrote: Its not all about the transfer fees, its about the spiralling wage bill on average players. well yes it is annoying that with a couple more signings we'd have been challenging for the title, but saying anyone is lucky to finish in any position is ridiculous. were ManU lucky to win it last year because we cocked up in the run-in?redandwhite wrote:we're only lucky tinpot lane to be 4th cos Aston Villa cocked up. Had we been consistent against middle league teams we might have been in the running for the PLC not fighting for 4th.
