Gooner Survey Results 2007 – Part Two (14/9)

usual thread starter… The answer to the question at the top baffles me. Tony Adams as a manager? I am far from convinced. But I am even less so by Pat Rice – who is basically as yes man, or Liam Brady (remember Celtic anyone? Brighton & Hove Albion?). Just because a former player is an Arsenal legend does not make him a great manager. And we do need someone proven. Arsène Wenger was not an Arsenal legend in 1996. But he had a proven track record as a boss in France.

I wouldn't want Tony Adams as successor to Arsene but maybe i would like to see him as manager one day, if i had to choose a successor to Arsene it would be Guus Hiddink or a less obvious one would be (i know i will get a lot of raised eyebrows for this one) Reading manager Steve Coppell, Old Trafford connections aside i think he is a good manager but do relise he isn't 'world class' like Hiddink, but was Arsene? No.

One question if any of the current premiership managers had to take over at Arsenal who would you want?

Ed, that's a bit of a farce trying to have a go at the board for only giving over 30's a one year contract option. Do you really think it is down to them? And if Arsene wanted to keep a player they tell him only on a one year contract? On the contrary you can be sure that it is either Arsene's policy or he agrees with it totally. And we all know how he loves to develop youth. so you are well wrong there, with your cheap shots.

on the assumption this applies to one of the survey replies (and I haven't the will to wade through them), the survey results comment was written up by Phil Wall (credited at the top), not me. So withdraw your 'cheap shots' remark if you don't mind. otherwise pistols at dawn, sir
