Frank Lampard Phones LBC Radio

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

he is just so much more inteligent than the news reader and it shows, how the hell sky news thought it worthy to attack the radio presenter over it is strange though

I didn't think I would ever say this but Lumpard comes across well. I don't know what the radio presenter was on, a total *word censored*.

Couples split up every day and the only losers out of this situation are the children. (despite the fact that they'll be looked after financially)

I remember well the 1st league fixture we played against the Chavs at The Grove and every single time they had the ball we booed hissed and whistled for the entire 90mins something that I'd never witnessed in person at a match especially at The Grove and the only thing that's ever come close since was when Ade got sent off against the Scousers, a decision that had us fuming after a bad couple of weeks for the club!

I clearly remember thinkin at the time that the Chavs will surely have been a bit taken aback and under no illusions as to what the rest of the footballing community thinks of them as they know we are fairly civilised supporters and they would've never heard any team get that abuse from Gooners, not even the Spuds and yet at the very end of the match Lampard actually made a point of clapping us as well as the away support!

With his level of commitment and influence at his club and match winning ability due to the sheer number of goals he scores he's the sort of player that would be a legend had he played for us, and IMO gets a disproportionate or undeserved level of abuse, especially when he pulls on the national jersey, and I suppose it's cos he along with JT is so identifiable with Chelsea that he tends to get the stick for all that we hate about what the club stands for!

Fair play to him for picking up the phone, shows that some footballers do actually have a brain.

No he doesn't, as he completely took the bait. Hook, line and sinker.

I'm a journalist myself, and it's my job to generate debate/discussion in an attempt to spark interest and encourage readers to participate. The only way of doing this is by causing controversy - and yes, it does have its walls and boundaries too (which I don't believe were broken here).

This DJ's job is the same - to create enough interest to provoke a reaction. He hasn't made any scandalous or unreasonable comments as far as I'm concerned; merely expressed an opinion. Bottom line, he's doing his job. And because we're all listening to his audio clips and even having this discussion proves that he is doing so successfully.

This has been going on for years. In my view, footballers with a brain would completely ignore such stories (remember, this is hardly an isolated story in the press; Lumpard gets column inches every single day). I couldn't see Dennis Bergkamp getting drawn in like this. But the fact that the DJ has managed to entice Lampard into calling in is a masterstroke, and indicates that he's pressing the right buttons within reasonable limits.

I think perhaps as a journalist you maybe a little biased. I do appreciate that Lampard probably uses the press to his advantage at times but listening to the clip of the radio show at least shows he is intelligent enough to defend himself.

I guess you're right in the fact that to get him to phone in was perhaps a masterstroke but I don't think you can critisise anyone for wanting to defend themselves.

NB - I can't believe I'm defending Fat Frank, I need help.

I am sorry but Lampard done himself no favours there.

How the hell can you say he came across as intelligent. He went on a rant and his defence was full of if's buts and maybes.

The timing was unfortunate but it was weak of Lampard to bring his mothers death into the conversation anniversary or not. That is simply usuing unfortunate circumstances to try and excuse yourself.

The fact his relationship broke down was all to do withhis mum passing away, nothing to do with the brass he got caught with in Vegas etc!

We do not know if his ex chose to move herself and the kids out of the family home but what we do know is that Lampard can afford more than a two bedroom flat for his kids regards of location. He uses the fact that it is in Kensington or wherever as some warped justificaton. I am sure the children enjoyed their own bedrooms in the family home yet they do not enjoy that in their supposed temporary accomodation, Why?

The journalist posed decent questions and Frank used his mothers death and acts yet to happen as answers.

I'm surprised that he could actually tear himself away from his pies for that long.

At least the presenter actually stands up to him for a bit, rather than those creeps from Sky and BBC football who never ask any decent questions or discuss anything that might upset their Eng-er-land lovies.

i dont think the presenter was out of line, or made a fool of himself. i havent heard the earlier parts of the discussion but fatty cant blame the presenter for what has been said about him by his ex, and thats exactly what he's trying to do. the line about how 60m+ of the population cant personally call up fatty to get his side is what this is all about.

that said, FL did come across very genuine when he did call up, and even though he might have been shooting the messenger, he did seem like a decent enough bloke.

hes still fat though.

What a stuck up bitch that news reader was on the third video. Fools like her are a major part of what's wrong with the media. Prime example of 'taking the moral high ground'.

I'm sure she's a perfect picture of journalistic integrity herself anyway. Honestly, I sometimes think the best ever edition of the news would be if a mass murderer broke into the studio and killed the ignorant excessively-pious news readers like her in some brutal fashion as they are in the middle of one of their disgusting speils...
