YOUR FAV MOMENTS AGAINST UTD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

YOUR FAV MOMENTS AGAINST UTD

Post by goonersid »

With 2moro fast approaching!
1. Marc Overmars 1-0 OT ( Because that was the day we knew we would catch them and win the title)
2 Alan Sunderland 3-2 Wembley (Only no 2 cos at 13 the significance was probably lost on me just a little bit)
3 David Platt 3-2 THOF (cos it was a fucking brilliant header and a draw would have been an injustice)
4 Sylvan Wiltord 0-1 OT (not higher cos we new the title was coming no matter what happened )
5 Mc Clair pen miss 2-1 THOF (cos it was my first Arsenal game)

Wiltord 2001, fucking class moment! Absolutely paralytic in my local pub jumping around on the sofas  Remember the UpTheArse! cover a few weeks later which hate Barthez super-imposed onto the statue of liberty

Keown taking the piss out of RVN after that penalty miss.

The 1991 brawl

Ohhh, I hate them...

Cheers, mate! Great times!

Had a feeling it was 2001 but wasn't completely sure.

In a strange way I actually think the scenes after PV4 sending off and then horseface penalty miss take come beating. For a decade teams were bullied by United and United always got away with it, that day, we completely stood up to them and proved we wouldn’t back down. Did things go too far? Maybe, but I think psychologically that actually hurt United for a year or two. I also remember every gooner I know saying at the time that they would happily take any suspensions the FA handed out because the Keown moment was worth it on its own.

Other than that, Overmars goal was immense, you just knew we were going to take the title after that!

How could I forget the battle of old trafford, I remember walking back to my car in Derry City Centre straight after the final whistle, stone cold sober fists clenched shouting "FUCKING YES" to the horror of Sunday afternoon shoppers.
