My opinion of Ade hasn't changed one little bit. I'm not that fickle. I admit, his second yesterday was fucking superb, but apart from that, he was extremely wasteful yesterday and he's still a long way off being the finished product.

However, what I would say is that he does seem to score in important games, so maybe there is potential there for him to be a top player for us. If he becomes a clinical finisher and generally becomes a more intelligent footballer, then he will definitely be a very important player for us.

My mate was calling him Adecantscore. I turnt to him and predicted he would score the equaliser . Adebayor is a grafter he chases everything down. last season both terry and ferdinand said he was the hardest player to defend against.

ADEBAYOR HAD 6 ATTEMPTS AT GOAL, OF WHICH 4 WERE ON TARGET AND HE GOT 2 GOALS. HARDLY PROFLIGATE!!

AS I SAID PREVIOUSLY ON ANOTHER THREAD, ADE HAS THE KNACK OF SCORING IMPORTANT GOALS, IF NOT ALWAYS PLENTY OF THEM. HOWEVER, HE IS ONLY 23 YEARS OLD AND HAS PLENTY OF TIME TO MATURE INTO A BETTER AND MORE CLINICAL FINISHER.

REMEMBER, THIS WILL BE HIS FIRST YEAR AS A CERTAIN STARTER IN THE LINE-UP AND MAYBE WITH THE CONFIDENCE OF THAT KNOWLEDGE, HE WILL END UP GETTING CLOSE TO OR EVEN MORE THAN 20 GOALS, PLAYING A WHOLE SEASON. 8)

Stats can be a wonderful thing. For example, out of the "top 4" mini league, we finished top last season. That must mean we're the best team in the league, right? Wrong. Yes, Adebayor's stats from yesterday don't make for unpleasant reading, but you know as well as I do that he misses absolute sitters and yesterday was no exception. It's one thing to have a crack from 30 yards and have it not go in, it's an entirely different matter when chances from 6 yards are being spurned by a centre forward on a regular basis.

Ade is like that guy at work who by and large does feck all , slacks all the time . but every now and then when the shits hit the fan he comes through in a big way and justifies his place at the office .

i am not a big ade fan and i was curseing him at halftime and then we all know what happened next . i seriously cant figure the guy out . he seems like a total waste of space and then occasionally does something that makes you rethink your earlier assessment .

DAMN YOU ADE , YOU ARE FUCKING WITH MY HEAD !!!!!

TONY,

THE 'TOP FOUR MINI LEAGUE' EXAMPLE DOESN'T MAKE SENSE BECAUSE WE ALL KNOW THE SEASON IS BASED ON 38 LEAGUE GAMES, NOT JUST 6!!

ONLY AN IDIOT WOULD ASSUME THAT BECAUSE YOU'VE DONE WELL AGAINST THE TOP TEAMS IT MEANS YOU AUTOMATICALLY ARE THE BEST SIDE - AND I'M NOT AN IDIOT SO WOULDN'T HAVE MADE THAT ASSUMPTION! OTHERWISE I WOULD HAVE COME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT WE WERE ONE OF THE WORST TEAMS BECAUSE WE DID SO POORLY AGAINST THE LESSER SIDES!!

YES, ADEBAYOR HAS BEEN PRONE TO MISSING EASY CHANCES IN THE PAST AND NO DOUBT WILL DO SO IN THE FUTURE, BUT LIKE I SAID ABOVE, THIS WILL BE HIS FIRST FULL SEASON AS AN ALMOST CERTAIN STARTER AND THE CONFIDENCE THAT BRINGS MIGHT SEE A BIT MORE CONSISTENCY IN HIS FINISHING. LET'S HOPE SO. 8)

I DON'T EXPECT YOU TO CHANGE YOUR MIND AFTER ONE PERFORMANCE BUT IF ADEBAYOR CONTINUES IN THIS GOAL-SCORING VAIN AND DOES END UP WITH 20 GOALS, IT CERTAINLY WOULDN'T BE CONSIDERED 'FICKLE' TO SAY THAT THE GUY PROVED YOU/US WRONG. INDEED, I MIGHT HAVE TO DO THE VERY SAME THING OVER FLAMINI, WHO - DESPITE MY CONCERNS - HAS BEEN NOTHING SHORT OF OUTSTANDING SO FAR THIS SEASON. 8)

ANYWAY, WE WILL KNOW MORE AT THE END OF THE SEASON THAN WE DO NOW, BUT I BELIEVE ADEBAYOR WILL END UP WITH AT LEAST 15 GOALS IN THE LEAGUE AND THAT WOULDN'T BE A BAD RETURN CONSIDERING HE ALSO BRINGS MORE TO THE SIDE THAN JUST GOALS.

I couldent watch the game but, reading your reportms its better than watching the game, about Adebayor he is little bit lazy, but as long as he scores its coo, one game before he looked more sharpen and more threaten to oponents defence than V Persie, and i watched VP against Alabania, hi is too agresive, but i was very satisfied with his physical tackles, he is geting to the right spot, but for me he dident prove more this season than Adebayor, so for now Ade is our main threat.

Two people on this thread have criticised Adebayor for being lazy. I can't understand that view of him. He lacks the ability in front of goal, as Tony Saunders has pointed out. To say he lacks a work ethic is simply untrue.

I firmly believe that if Bendtner can develop the workrate of Adebayor he has a real future because he is a better player, but there's more to top class football than ability - just ask Flamini.

trouble is to many people want 11 flair players you need your no thrill players and genrally they have a far greater work rate.

You're quite right. To assume that we are the best team in the league because of our results against the top teams would not make sense. I think you missed my point; on paper, Adebayor's performance against Spurs was very good, just as in the same way, on paper, you could argue that pound for pound, Arsenal are the strongest team out of the top four when it comes to big games. However, things are never as black and white as that. That was my point...

Quite right. If he ends the season like that, then I can have no complaints. However, I can and will have complaints while people are getting carried away after his first good performance of the season (which I still wouldn't have described as brilliant). The lad scored a screamer but he hasn't proved anything yet. There's clearly potential there and I hope more than anyone that he can fulfill it, but until he does, I won't start pretending that he has. Catch my drift?

Sorry Tony but I think Adebayor has proved himself already. you must of forgot Ade at Mould trafford last year? he also scored goals against the spuds last season. But what I particuly like is if Ade loses the ball he always tries to win it back.
